Stolen gun recovered

I fully expect to have to make the trip to claim it.....and I will even thought it will cost me nearly as much as another 34. But its MINE and I want it back.
Not to mention I have a sister in Truckee so I can visit while I'm there.
I just wish the weather was warmer so I could take the Harley out for a road trip.

I also would like for my remington 22 rifle to be found....my grand dad gave it to me several years ago.

My only experience getting a stolen gun back is ancient history (like 40 years ago).

I did get 2 back within the last 2 years which were taken as evidence in an accidental shooting. I had to fill out a DOJ form stating I was the proper owner and could legally own them. I think it was $19 to include a background check. For handguns they wanted proof of registration, but long guns not so much (they aren't registered). This was all inside CA though. The D.A. was trying to avoid their return for no good reason. I went around him and got the straight scoop from the DFG (they had possession).

I had my Glock stolen and recovered by Antioch pd about 18 years ago. I just walked in a received my Glock minus the rounds in the magazine and walked out. I know things are different now. I wish you all the luck in receiving your firearm.

My ffl got a call from both DOJ and BATFE about a stolen 228 of mine. He gave them my info and then no one's heard anything since. I've made efforts to contact both agencies as well as asking SFPD to make an enquirie and have gotten nowhere.

Something happened for them to contact my ffl...

That would be up to the insurer. When my dad got a couple back 40 years ago, the insurer felt the paper work was more than it was worth. Dad ended up with a Colt Woodsman out of the deal.

I don't either, my guns are tools, however I like to use them up myself not some stupid theif. Anyways, good luck getting your gun back. Hope you get it back.

Just be thankful it's not the other way around; if you lived in California and your pistol was found out of state, THAT could be a PITA to try to get it back.

You should be able to get it for less than 1% per year. Collectilbles Insurance will do it for around $70/10k.

Once the gun is available for release The PD here in Calif should be able to ship it either to your local PD there in Texas for release to you or to your local FFL.

If I were you I would contact your local PD and ask them if they could assist you in the process. Call and ask for the watch commander and explain your situation. You might do that before you call the PD here in Ca.

I called the detective. I got mostly good news. He SIS say I may have to wait a few months due to the current investigation.
I won't go to far into the details if the investigation.
No one was shot with my gun but the guy found with it is a known felon .....there was a drive by shooting hence the on going investigation.
The det is trying to get my gun released before the trial ....he said it is very possible....
The det is VERY PRO GUN.
Also said they will most likely just ship it to my ffl when it is released without me needing to go out there.
My gun is still in good condition and still has the fiber optic sights on it.

I will update as I get info.
