    Stolen gun recovered

In may of 2010 someone broke into my apt and stole 7 guns. I just got a letter in the mail from a detective letting me know they found my G34.

The theft took place in Ft Worth TX, and the gun was found during a criminal investigation in Antioch CA.

I'm curious, what are the chances of them returning my pistol to me?

Has anyone else here had dealings with a recovered weapon in CA?

I would think that the fact of them contacting you bodes well for it's return.

You may be disgusted when you lay your eyes on your pride and joy though.

I agree with the above poster. It looks good since they contacted you about it. Do not let them destroy it. Ask to have it returned. If they give you the run around or deny you then contact the calguns foundation.

I wonder what history it has now.

There may be a delay if it is needed as evidence for a trial, otherwise I expect you will get it back. It sounds like you may still be living in Texas (or not in CA). I don't know what the procedure is but you may want to have the info of a local / friendly FFL handy in case they need to ship it to you through an FFL.

This^^. Not to rain on your parade but I would imagine the thief was careless, expect the polymer to be scratched up and the finish faded.

I was thinking the same about them contacting me being a good thing.

I will contact calguns if need be, thanks for the tip.

I hope that there ga not been any good people hurt with it but I am curious about its history....and how it made it from TX to CA.
That's another thing......how will I get it when they so give it back? On guessing ill have to go out there to claim it and then ship it to an ffl? ....or fly it back with me?

                    It's a GLOCK.
I'm not to worried about the finish. It was my IDPA gun so it had more holster wear than finish. If its to bad than I will just duracoat it.

I had a buddy that lived in HB and had a Glock 19 go MIA for several years. Found it under the seat of some scumbag high desert tweaker. He picked it up from whichever agency had it, wasn't a lick of finish on the thing but it still ran like a swiss watch.

Its good they contacted you, if it was still tied up in court, you probably would not hear from them. I had a few guns stolen along with a friends Glock 23. 12 years later the FBI calls my friend to let him know they have it, do you want it back? They had custody of it for 6 or 7 years after being taken off a guy who used it to rob several banks. They did not bother calling my friend untill after the trial and apeals were done. An FBI agent drove it to his house, the big ziptied with property tag and case number (how he found out about the bank roberys) still through the action. He signed a release paper and it was his once again.
