And who do you blame for that?

The giant conglomerate corporation for taking their business out of the country
      OR
The consumer for demanding the cheapest price for the "highest' quality possible in that cheaper price?

      or both?

yeah you are right a lot of the stuff in my house is made elsewhere. But its only made elsewhere because I do not have the choice of buying it made in the US. As i said before I try and buy american made there just isn't much out there made in america anymore.

          I don't "buy american"
I buy quality - doesn't matter to me where it's made.
you don't rise to the occasion,
you just fall back on your level of training.

I have a Mossberg shotgun. If Norinco churned out M500 clones like they do 870's at half the price I would have bought that in a heartbeat.

Everything else I own is from China, Japan, Russia, Brazil, Austria, Germany. Er... Except an Intratec .

I buy American when it's the best part/item in the category. If the part sucks, I buy the one that doesn't, no matter where it's made. Now, I'd rather buy stuff made here, but it's not always the best.

Besides most of my firearms, heres some of the US made things I own that I'm really happy with:

Surefire G2 and Streamlight Polytac HP flashlights. Maglights too.
                Redwing shoes
Ford F150 and a Mustang (transmission made in China, WTF is that all about?)
Craftman tools (most of them anyways)
                Hobart MIG welder
                Oreck vacume cleaner

My point is this: Theres still lots of great stuff still made in this country if you look around. Intentionally NOT buying american just to hurt the unions is silly but if thats your thing its still a semi-free country. At least for now.
Gotta dance with the one who brung ya, at least a little.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Mossberg imported some inexpensive O/U shotguns from Brazil and I think Turkey not long ago. I saw them at Big 5. I don't think they did to well. As far as I know Ruger is the only one that makes an O/U shot gun in the USA.
The 500s and 930s are still US made. I like my 500 MILS model.

Sadly, just because it was made here doesn't make it a good thing anymore.

At lot of manufacturers love cheaping out and producing turds nowadays. Just look at Marlin...

I buy American when its convenient to do so, but it's no dogma to me. At the end of the day, I'll buy the best product for the best price. Besides, the people who work at our ports need jobs too, no?

And honestly, why should it matter to me who the profits go to? It's not like I'm going to benefit, and if they go to a foreigner, well they still keep people over here employed and such...
