Both. While I'd love to use my thirty round magazines in a detachable mag build that included a pistol grip and vertical fore grip, the fact that I can still use them with a "featureless" build and the fact that the bullet button allows me to drop mags with evil features prevents me from feeling completely screwed.

While CA legal configurations do lose a significant amount of "coolness" for lack of a better word, I feel good knowing that I can own these guns. When I hold a gripless or mag-locked AK or AR in my hands I still know that I am holding the real deal. And of course I can still dream about moving one day or better yet, doing away with the AW ban.

I feel much better off today than I did three years ago when all I had was a FAB-10. Now I have something like 11 lowers and 5 of them are built. I have a 9mm build, a coyote shooting build, a tactical build, a bullet button build, a prince50 build, a MonsterMan Grip build, and sooner or later a .22 LR build.

I felt ripped off when I the FAB-10 was all I had. Now I feel pretty normal. It helps to have both featureless and fixed builds, then you can take advantage of both worlds.

Really a Bullet Button and evil features is all you really need, but want is always a factor.

What's with these rash of questions lately? This is about the 4th or 5th of this genre in the last two weeks.

Either everyone's suddenly getting worried, all at the same time, all on this website, all within a few days of each other or Iggy's invested in some new fishing poles...

I spent close to ten years with bolt action rifles, mini 14's and tacticool sks's

Would I love to have a pistol gripped rifle with detachable mags? yep.

would I like to have the B.S. laws done away with? certainly

Do I want to spend another decade without Evil black rifles? Heck no!!!

And don't forget that if times require it or laws change its REALLY easy to reconfigure for freedom mode.

While I think it's great that folks build and own these "legal" rifles, I have a hard time convincing myself to get one. I have a Stag M4gery at my Mom's house in Nevada and I couldn't imagine putting a lock on it, or taking the PG off and FH off of it. I also don't like the idea of the legality of it. I know what the law states, I know how people can interpret it, but I don't like the fact that regardless of whether you win or lose a lawsuit... you were still just involved in a lawsuit, and it costs money. In the end, you probably still lose your $700+ rifle.

I've got a fully featured AR with a prince50 maglok kit on it. For 99.99% of the time it is a range toy. Having to break it open to reload actually slows me down a bit and I concentrate more on each shot rather than ripping through a whole mag, reload and repeat. Also helps keep my ammo cost down a bit. For the .01% of the time that I take it out of state to play its only 3-4 turns of an allen key to convert to a "normal" rifle. Since, I don't hunt or compete in 3-gun with it, the non-detachable mag is a non-issue. I have other guns for home defense if the need arises.

Not to change the topic but if the gov't decides to ban the ammunition, is that a violation of the 2nd amendment?

When you are shooting a pinned-mag top loader, it feels and shoots just like a regular AR. The only time you notice the difference is when you reload.

That said, I learned on an M16, so even an "unneutered" AR feels neutered to me. No full-auto position on the selector switch.

And a great excuse to build several rifles in different configurations.

I got it for a regular AK PG and it's on a standard romanian bakelite I think PG... What should I do? I kept the mag lock installed just in case this would happen...
