"Inside Delta Force" and I think another book by Richard Marcinko describe sitting people inside a kill house playing the role of hostages during a live fire shoot.

Whether that is horsesh*t or not, I do not know.

The "Trust Your Teammate" should be called
"Trust Your God" instead. That you should have
enough faith and trust on your God not to get shot!
        .

"and God said let there be VTEC. And then there was
a great earthquake. The seas boiled and the skies fell...

All fell silent as the roar of 5,600RPM echoed across the earth"

If civilians are taking this class, that is just scary. Trying to do a twist-a-rooney arm lock shoot thingy on somebody will get you killed fast. For a civilian, chances you you ever getting into that predicament is slim to none.

Let's review the video of the Oakland shooting that happened a few weeks ago and a baby is now brain dead because he was shot. That's real life, scary gun stuff... not "Hi-yah! Karate Chop!" on a metro sexual dude with a duck tail and sunglasses.

I was in Marine Recon for 8 1/2 years. We NEVER fired live ammo in the direction of personnel. If people want to do that, more power to them. The hand to hand moves in this video were not the same ones we were trained to use. The techniques in this video have more moves and were designed to grapple with and eventually overcome the opponent. We used techniques with less moves that were designed to instantly incapacite or kill the opponent. The training in this video is more of what a security contractor would receive. To become proficient in these types techniques, requires hundreds of repetitions, before you would ever want to try them in a live situation.

I would be a little shocked if Our Boys were doing this, but around the time of the 1988 Seoul Olympics I recall seeing something on the teevee showing Korean security forces and how they trained. In one exercise, operators would storm a darkened room and fire on a target against the opposite wall that was flanked by two of their buddies. I thought those guys were pretty hard core.

Note in the video in many cases where you don't see people firing towards others, the camera operator is nonetheless downrange of live fire.

I'm not condoning the video at all, but for everyone saying to shoot the guy when the gun is jammed into the neck should pay attention. The scenario is that they shot dry and are in hand to hand combat, they are using the gun and flashlight as an impact weapon.

I understand it is SOP for commanding officers of elite units, such as SEAL six and others to use themselves as hostages in live fire excersizes to express confidence in their men. I've never seen or heard of this though. Completely unsafe and bordering on the idiotic. Should be done with training weapons unless your a SEAL or hostage rescue or some such elite unit.

Must be nice to have an assailant move with your fluid movements, or impose themself on you without any force.

He might as well be training with crash dummies.

No, people actually do this stuff.

And definitely not in the states.
"Then there are sheepdogs. The sheepdogs are the bastions of safety. The sheepdog lives solely to protect the flock and confront the wolf. They live for the opportunity to be called to duty to protect the innocent. The sheepdog has fangs and the propensity for violence but hopes that he will not have to resort to it. However, he lives for that day when he will be able to use his warrior skills and mindset to keep the wolf from harming the sheep."

Watched it again, and I'm sorry, but how can you teach anyone to defend themselves if the attacks aren't semi-realistic? These attacks are nothing more than assistants slowly reaching at the instructor, and immediately surrendering to a counter-attack as soon as the instructor reacts.

                            Ridiculous.

This isn't some mall ninja tacticool magpul course open to civilians. If this is how the best of our boys train, good for them.
