    This is downright scary!

We've all seen different training videos where there is a certain element of endangerment going on that makes us cringe. Well, I think this video comes in near the top of the "WTF List"...

Edit: I've been told this is SOP for "operators" particularly Delta and Rangers. Can anyone comment on that?

I skipped through the video. For all we know the guns had any mechanism to fire removed, the magazines look like some sort of dummies(although the same thing could be done with plastic dummy models, it's why they exist).

And then I saw at the 2:59 mark another guy had a live gun on the same course...

Is Gecko45 running some firearm trainers college out there somewhere that has these people cropping up out of the blue?

Are ffffing kidding me at 4:40.... yes, completely unsafe through numerous exercises, but standing down range within a few feet of the target for a "trust fall" exercise.... The title of your thread is defintely appropriate.

The orange base plates are popular for Glocks to separate your range mags from the duty mags. This way you can keep the range mags that get beat to hell out of your duty gear.

Maybe they did take the guns all the way apart an remove the firing pins, but I really doubt it. And they're not simunition guns either since those are blue from Glock.

Did you see the, ah, "Trust your teammate" sections? Or any of the wrassling?
This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it.

Like I said, I just skipped through it. I did see some of the grappling and poking eachother in the neck with the muzzle end of the gun though(which is why I assumed they might have been disabled), but no.. then I saw live guns on the same range at 2:59.

              Such fail.

I seriously wonder if anyone shows up for these classes and then part way in goes "WTF? I'm outta here".

15 seconds in he was firing live rounds.

I never said that it didn't happen up until 2:59, but that was when I noticed it.

At 2:10, and maybe you Glock guys can help out here, the instructor jams the muzzle of his weapon into the "bad guy" throat. I don't own a Glock, but I can say without reservation, doing that with my Colt GM, Beretta 92F or 3rd Gen S&W, the gun would probably come out of battery and not fire if need be. Is that the purpose of the tactic? Make my gun a club and not a firing gun anymore?

No idea, since if I had a working gun in that position I don't see why you wouldn't just shoot the guy. Right before that(and just after the edit at 2:03) he says "bam, slide lock"(wtf, is he Emeril now?) so I'm guessing he's trying to demonstrate how to use the muzzle of the gun as an impact weapon in the event you run out of ammo or it jams.

Yes, you could end up with a firearm that won't fire. This is something Glock covers in their armorer class, and says to not push the muzzle against someone/thing.

This kind of stuff takes a lot of muscle memory and really don't think it's practical to try and get it in a few classes. If you watch the people in the background you can see the massive confusion with body movements. I think there is more practical training (the type that helps you not sh:7 yourself if confronted by a bad guy) by guys that don't have paintings of themselves that look like video game covers. But hey, if people have the coin to drop to be Jason Statham in Transporter for a day, more power to them.

I would never stand downrange with live rounds... I don't care how good the shooter is. Random ricochete, alone, is enough deterrent to stand back behind the line of fire.

I am jealous, though. I wish I could grow a fierce battle beard.

It's the Phillipines so I'm sure that their safety protocol sits slightly askew from ours.
