@ Panda- Why do you even bring them (from what I've seen in your video 3 guys) when you go shooting if they don't bring their own : Gun(s) or ammo.

When I get bored I usually bring someone else with me and they always offer to pay for ammo or the range fee. I don't take their money, but I tell them go get ammo from Wal-Mart or Big 5 the day before. That way they know how much ammo is and how much they'll be shooting. If they have their own firearm that I want to shoot I bring enough ammo for the both of us to shoot.
It's common courtesy to offer something up in exchange for a good time.

most of the time my friends do pay their own share, but I just hate when few of them are mootching, or when some of them complain that I don't wanna give them my ammo, even though I have a lot of it, it's still ****ing expensive.

I've taken about 8 noobs to shoot, none of them became guns owners because they say it's too expensive. I'm starting to rethink my ways of offering my time and guns to shoot.

This is usually the end result from bringing someone to the range, unfortunately for you it didn't work.

I never seem to have that problem. My non gun owning friends either buy ammo, pay shooting lane fees, buy lunch, buy beer without me asking. Guess I have good friends.

Find new friends if people keep begging for handouts. I never understand how people complain about having friends that want to mooch off of them all the time. When people start doing that to me, they aren't my friends.

Are you explaining to these new shooters that there are cheap guns and ammo to shoot? Are you letting them shoot a .22lr gun and explaining that a brick of 500 rounds costs about $15? Maybe a $100 mosin and some dirt cheap surplus 7.62x54r? If all you're showing them is your precision bolt action with a $900 scope and ammo that costs $2 a round, no wonder they don't want to get into shooting because they think it's too expensive.

When I take noobs to the range, they're paying for my range fee and usually dropping around $20 for gas and ammo. That's when I bring out the stash of steel cased .223, 9mm reloads, .22lr rifle and pistol. Yeah they can shoot a few rounds out of my .308, but I'm not handing them a few boxes. Of course they realize I'm not charging them full price for ammo and I point out how much surplus ammo and .22lr costs, that usually gets them interested. Then they ask how much the .308 costs... and I tell them to stick with the surplus and .22lr to start with.

The first time is free as stated above. Usually they pick up the range tab, not by request but on their own because I supplied the weapons and ammo. Not too bad a trade off.

I agree with most of the folks here, 1st time's on me but split the range costs (unless hot gal where everything is paid by me). After that bring some ammo or help pay for 1/2 of what we use.

If we rent (guns) I'll half the rental and range ammo (the range I go to won't allow my ammo to be used in thier guns).

If you don't want to rent and just shoot mine then you provide ammo or split the ammo cost with me... Seems fair..

Most of the guys I go with get it.... Some of the others you have to spell it out up front.. Kinda like when I drive to go snowboarding and some folks don't want to pony up for gas or anything.... That just iterates me! Freaking leaches...

1st time is free, BYOA after that. I also usually only give them one mag, it slows them down quite a bit when they have to keep re-loading the mag. I do make an exception for my daughters best friend (her dad is active duty USMC-enlisted) every time I invite him and his kids the ammo is on me. I know how much (or how little) they make.

Nope, I do not play that game. When my children were youngsters I would of course pay for it all. Now that they are grown up, they pay for their own stuff. All of my friends that I take shooting have their own stuff and we will shoot each others stuff accordingly. First timers shoot for free the first time and children always shoot for free, beyond that you had better bring your own stuff, period.

When I go shooting with my buddies, we all have our own ammo........we will shoot each others guns but usually only a few magazines worth, so It all works out. But I won't pay for deadbeats to shoot my guns, while I pay for the ammo and end up cleaning the guns too. Unless I take a hot girl shooting, you bring your own ammo, guns, etc......

Same here. The guys all bring their .45's, .40's, 9mm's, and .357's, and I bring a few of those and a .454 Casull and a .45-70 rifle.

After shooting awhile, it's fun to pull out the boom sticks and let everyone give them a try. Everyone loves to laugh when a big guy cries because a .454 loaded with 2000 ft/lb rounds bruised his dainty hands... It isn't cheap to shoot a ton of $1-$3 rounds, but every shares whatever they've got, and the price is worth the comedy relief on it's own.
