I think we should start a group and name it "CA against guns" and everytime we come across a seller like this email them a thank you note. Add all sorts of BS about how we are happy they are keeping the killing machines off the street and thank them for saving the children.

Oh, poor sellers, forced to sell to minorities they don't like! That's so awful.

I have contacted some people on Gunbroker and let them know that I have a no hassle FFL guy and I have been able to get a few to agree to send to me in CA even though they stated they would not. Some people just need to be educated a little bit. I just bought a gun the other day and the private seller paid for an FFL guy on his end to ship the gun. I let him no that it was not required and he didn't know. That has happened to me more than once.

On another note, I have worked with an FFL dealer up in Washington state and he said that he does 70% of his business over the internet and only 30% through his brick and mortar store. He said California is his biggest online marketplace with Texas being second. People that don't want to ship to California are just simply making a poor business decision as it is a large marketplace of potential customers that they are completely dismissing. And on top of that, they do it either because they don't want to hassle with one additional piece of paperwork or they want to stick it to the man in CA. The problem is the MAN could care less and they only hurt the purchasers of their products that "Oh by the way" also happen to champion the cause of an armed America which is the core or their business. It is almost like they are lobbying against themselves. Not smart!

Sucks that this keeps happening, but I would keep looking for a good deal on the same gun and when you do find one that will ship to CA, make sure you send the info to the jackhole saying "This guy gets it and also got my money". It might not change anything, but then again maybe if enough of these type of messages start rolling into these ignorant sellers they will start actually trying to understand the laws and work with us.

Prolly not... but a guy can dream, right?

Why support someone who doesn't support you? It makes zero sense. Why reward racists, bigots, and morons with your hard earned dollars? If they don't want your money, give it to me, everyone who comes through my door is the color green.

History disagrees with me that market forces will take care of this? Just because government intervention was needed in the south during the civil rights era, doesn't mean government intervention was needed in the north or out west. There is also a whole world out there that doesn't have the same laws we do. Are you saying the reason people aren't racist anymore is because government law prohibits me from discriminating?

Society has progressed and it wasn't just becuase of government intervention. It was through the hard work and effort of the civil rights movement and simple business sense. A black man's money is just as good as a white man's money or insert any color if you will. If someone disagrees, then they should say so and you can feel free not to shop there and I would highly encourage you to tell your friends not to shop there as well. The market will take care of it. We do not need government intervention.

No excuse for what? If you want to pick and choose who you serve, the government and no one else should have a right to infringe on your liberty. As a provider of private services, you should be free to serve or sell to who you want. Those businesses that are openly hostile to a certain group will drive away customers that another wise business will gladly accept.

We do not need a law to help keep people in line, even though that tends to be the popular trend in this state.

They do. Look back and you will see out of state FFLs that would not sell to california to save their lives but when the financial cookie monster came calling all of the sudden its "Hello gun loving Californians we looked at the California laws ( AKA we pulled out heads out of our asses and due to the financial crunch we really want to stay in business) and we want to expand our market into California. Please buy from us pretty please. I can't put my finger on it but there were a few gun dealers who came a callin' when their business started to lose sales and California and our money started to look mighty fine.
IMO its just business. If you are too lazy or ignorant to sell to someone in california ( especially a LEGAL gun) for whatever grudge you hold against the state of California and Californians MORE POWER TO YOU.
You have every right to not make money. I will go buy from the next guy who is smart enough to jump through a few hoops and sell to california.

California has what? 33-35 MILLION people living in the state. I KNOW for a fact they are not all native californians. hell everywhere I look its either someone from another country or a different state. So maybe some of these people who came from elsewhere may just may have something to do with the way our laws are.

I woudl love to put some nice guns on gunbroker and say ONLY for sale to Californians and just have a few nice sales to make others think twice

Even we think it's ridiculous and we live here!

Imagine how much worse we look to the rest of the country.

The plastic bag ban, smoking ban, happy meal ban, the attempted circumcision ban... I'd be laughing at us if it weren't for the fact that I live here.

FFL? what if i dont hold an FFL and want to sell my gun to a Ca dealer?? I am not trying to be an a-hole here,, if there is a link that i can learn this on please feel free to show me the link,,

I am not asking for a law forcing out-of-state dealers to sell to Californians. If they want to be idiots, that's their right. Stupidity is not lethal, otherwise most of those would be dead already.

I am however challenging your belief that free market is some sort of magic solution that would have somehow (or that will) fought discrimination against certain groups. It took court decisions to allow certain groups to attend certain schools, or to be able to do business at some places. No amount of free market can take care of that, because by definition, some of those groups were or are minorities with little purchasing power, therefore sinking your free market theory.

While I do appreciate your sentiment and belief in the free market system, I also believe sensible regulation is sometimes necessary to keep the idiots and bigots in line.

I don't support a law prohibiting out-of-state hateful, clueless or ignorant dimwits from selling to Californians. They can do whatever they want. But your blanket statement about some businesses being able to discriminate against whomever they want is a bit disturbing. Would you repeal the Civil Rights Act, for instance?

The CFLC system is for out of state FFL01's to notify the CA DOJ that a handgun is being shipped to into the state. I have never heard of an FFL being denied an authorization number on a shipment but the receiving FFL needs that number for their records.

AS an out of state private party sending it to a CA FFL01 no CFLC number is needed or required.

Yes we should repeal it. It served its purpose, but we do not need to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't do anymore. Civil Rights Act or not, I will always sell to whoever has the money. I could care less what color you are, who you sleep with, or what you do as long as it is lawful. I am by no means the only one.

So if people could discriminate based on race, gender, sexuality, or whatever they wanted, there will be someone willing to open a store and take that market share.

Again, I fall back to the "why would you want to force a bigot to take your money?" Let them go out of business and return to a life of insignificance. Sure you could file a civil rights complaint and get their money that way, but with the Civil Rights Act, they will just refuse you service because they want to and won't mention race, gender, or sexuality. Why push the bigots underground? Let them show their true colors and choose wisely where you spend your money.
