.38special does to server a purpose. when gentlemen cant shoot their .357 all day long. they can put a few girl loads into it.

Worst round I have ever owned was .303 brit. Heavy, Slow, and when fired from Enfields you had to keep the pressures low. I just hated everything about it. Loved the Enfield though, wish they would have chambered all of them in .308.

Worst round I have shot was .32 S&W, and .25 acp. Seriously I think those rounds are a liability, they give you a sense of security.. you would be better off pulling the bullets off with your teeth, and pouring the gun powder into the assailants eyes and lighting it with a match.. Maybe I exaggerate... probably not though

I agree with the rocket rounds too, but my vote goes to the Winchester .22 Automatic

Police departments and the military ran away from it because they wanted a semi-auto that was quicker to load and held more ammo, not because it was a crappy round. The .38 Special was used by law enforcement from the 1920's well into the 1980's. I don't know many older cops who carried one that felt they were carrying an inferior round. It's significantly more powerful than the recent flavor of the month, the .380 ACP. It's very accurate and the +P loadings overlap into the same power range as many 9mm rounds, which is what the US Military switched to. It is cheaper than a .357 magnum round and can be used in .357s as a practice round, saving money and your wrist. Need I say more?

            So?
What on earth are you talking about?

The question laid forth was: "what really is the worst round ever?"

My answer: The one that doesn't do its job.

I don't know why you're talking about recoil and .45acp.

I wouldn't hate on the .357 Sig so much if it weren't so impractical and expensive. For pretty much the same performance and in most cases, price, one could just pick up premium .40 S&W or bulk buy a nice stash of low grain, high velocity JHP's and not have to get a gun chambered in such a niche cartridge.

              Rounds that I consider worthless:
              .25 ACP

              Rounds that I consider overrated:
              .32 ACP
              .380 ACP
              .357 Sig

Rounds that seem to exist for no apparent purpose (i.e. a solution to a problem which doesn't exist):
              .45 GAP
              .357 Sig
              .41 Action Express

              Rounds that I consider underrated:
              9mm
              .40 S&W
              5.45x39mm
              .22 LR
              .410 Shotshell
              10mm

Rounds that I consider as "novelty" or impractical:
              .30 carbine
              .45 LC
              .50 Action Express

NOTE: These are all just opinions! My 2 cents.

                .45GAP is plain retarded.

.357 Sig, on the other hand, is a fantastic round and has become my favorite pistol round. Shoots very fast (sends a 124gr Gold Dot 1500+ fps), has more energy than .40 s&w, shoots VERY flat, is dead accurate, and I can use the same bullets as some of my 9mm loads. Recoil is also very managable.

There is a good reason why the Secret Service and a lot of LEAs are using .357 sig. Because it is the best overall semi automatic handgun cartridge in current production. The best.

I have to disagree there. The .30 carbine wasn't intended for use as a battle rifle, it was to provide rear echelon troops with better firepower than just a 1911.

45 gap for me. But you have to ask yourself, if some one is shooting at you with any caliber. Will it really matter?

"Get him! hes only got a 25 acp that shoots a 34 gr bullet that goes 1100 fps and 94 foot pounds of muzzle energy!"

25acp sucks, it's expensive and not very fun to shoot.

I'm surprised the 38 super hasn't got hated on.

.38 super is a 9mm+P+, it's a good fast round with no recoil
