I agree the LEO in this case was a stand up guy. I believe he handled the situation very well and with respect. He was very professional. Also even though the guy was carrying in a legal manner the officer is still just trying to make sure he is safe during the stop, I have no issue with that at all. He didn't slam the guy to the curb or even get a attitude. The UOCer on the other hand could have been a little more cool during the stop. Having rights doesn't mean you can't be courteous with the officer. The officer made the guy aware he was aware of his rights and he respected his rights. This is the kind of attitude from UOCer's that makes it tough for others who choose to carry in this manner. I again would be glad to see more LEO's like this officer great job. One other thing if you carry does it hurt to have your ID on your person?

They make it a point not to carry ID so that the cops can't ILLEGALY run their IDs.I agree the LEO in this case was a stand up guy. I believe he handled the situation very well and with respect. CA is NOT a stop and ID state so showing your ID or identifing yourself in the absence of a crime to a LEO not required.
There is case law to back this up but I cant think of the name at the moment.
I am sure someone here know it off the top of their head.

I understand the legal aspect of not having to show the ID in the absence of a crime being committed. I said, does it hurt to carry the ID? I made the comment that the UOCer was within his rights, I was just trying to suggest that being courteous never hurts, it especially helps the gun owning community. I had a CWP in S.C. and was not committing a crime by carrying, but was required to inform the officer even if I was only being stopped at a license check point. I didn't commit a traffic violation or any other crime that facilitated the stop. I think the guy was well within his rights, I just believe that the attitude by UOCer doesn't need to be a part of the interview that was being conducted by the officer. This was a officer with a positive attitude not a LEO that believes we shouldn't own guns.sigpicComment

Officer Lyons was awesome. Love the Boston accent and the God Bless America comment at the end. The UOC was lost and needlessly uncooperative. Seems like someone without a lot of experience with social interaction; he could hardly put a sentence together. And I don't believe he is a former Marine.Comment

+1 This cop showed class. The officer in the Ohio CCW incident should take note of Officer Lyons professionalism.Officer Lyons was awesome.
