    Another tenpercentfirearms PPT thread!

Ok, for those of you who missed it.

Unfortunately the thread was locked before I could post up my latest signage for my store walls.

    and

I was all happy I got those pictures on Saturday the 3rd only to have my whole day ruined when the thread got locked.

Unfortunately some people don't understand satire. Instead of seeing that I was ripping on dealers who don't do PPTs correctly, some people thought I was serious. I just went along with the thread for fun, but unfortunately some people were kind of harsh in attacking the people that didn't understand satire (note I never called any posters any names).

    My favorite response was,

Would the past comments from the OP be this thread here?

Let's make a PPT application that FFLs have to take. An AW Flowchartesk project.

Clearly I am an advocate of proper PPT (note the original date of this project) and I would encourage all of you to go participate in that other thread so we can start working on an efficient way to hold dealers accountable, even if the DOJ doesn't want to be part of the process.

And that is the point of this thread, not to revive the locked satire thread, but to encourage you to participate in the formation of the PPT form that you can start taking in to dealers.

    Here is the link again.

I KNEW from first read on the other thread you were just messing around. It was obvious to the most casual observer.

(in before Ten Percent gets nuked)

I still don't see how a PPT can be done in mere minutes. I end up spending 30 minutes BSing, 30 minutes shopping, 5 minutes paying and remembering what I forgot to buy...and paying again!

Same documentation as usual. Resident aliens need their resident alien card and 90 consecutive days of utility bills (see this thread for more information. Non-immigrant aliens need their I-94 card, 90 days of consecutive utility bills, and a valid hunting license

FFLs cannot opt out on lawful PPTs. They are certainly going to try, but it isn't legal and they should be reported. If the FFL states they can't sell a resident alien or a non-immigrant alien a firearm and they won't do the PPT, the parties of the transaction should call the BATFE and request the FFL report them for suspicious activity immediately. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=447592 Note the images at the bottom of that thread. The FBI and ATF are taking this seriously and they will quickly discover the people aren't suspicious and are actually trying to conduct lawful transfers.

I personally think DOJ prompts the FFL into opting out
FFL tends to be gun shy and dont do it only because they dont want to risk their license by inadvertently doing something wrong

How does one properly educate an FFL without insulting their intelligence or ethics

I think your first statement is not accurate. If you call the DOJ or the BATFE and ask how to do alien transactions, they will help you. The resistance is not coming from the alphabet agencies.

The resistance comes from a mix of xenophobia and ignorance. "Foreigners shouldn't have guns" or "foreigners can't have guns".

I think the best answer to alien transactions is the 4473. All of the instructions are right there on the 4473. Every thing the dealer needs to know on how to process it is clearly laid out.

If a dealer is willing, walk them through the 4473 and show them how to do it. Any questions about legality can be answered with the forms that they have right there in their possession.

My guess is if a dealer is going to play that card, they just don't want to hassle with it.

On a selfish level that is fine. I have a couple of non-immigrant aliens that drive out of LA to deal with me because I have no problems lawfully selling them firearms because LA dealers won't.

However, this is a PPT thread and the PPT is not about giving your business to dealers who deserve it, it is about your convenience when the government mandates you do something.
