Have you considered getting a ccw? SB is very ccw friendly and then you can carry with the discreet confidence that you are a little better prepared for an encounter.

I have a CCW but when hiking its hard to deal with a chaffing holster.

Hiking is one of the few times when a fanny pack does not look out of place.

If you have a CCW just use a diffrent holster that doesn't cause chaffing. If you are out hiking who cares if you print.

What would you do if there were armed guards? I would assume drug dealers do not follow gun laws either and would have weapons that would make a Glock look like a pea shooter. I would avoid confrontation and be on my way rather then have a last stand with criminals.

Anyway, no reason to not have a gun. It can't hurt, and anyone who HAS a CCW and hikes unarmed is..............can't think of the word......it isn't chaffed.

Glocks are my favorite handgun and I carry when I hike unloaded locked in a Maxpedition bag. I carry for more of a survival use or in case I'm confronted by a group of troublemakers. I will always exercise the option of avoiding pulling my gun out.

Op, you should of got the coordiantes and let leo know. THEN get the hell out of there! If you have a ccw, and dont carry because it "chaffes", remember "ccw is not supposed to be comfortable, its comforting".
