My wife and I hike a lot in the san bernardino national forest. Today we set off early to enjoy a good Forth hike along the PCT when I ran across a LARGE marijuana grow. We were lucky no one was there\, but it got me thinking. What would of happened if there were some armed guards there? I hear about it all the time. Next time we I'm thinking I may bring my Glock 20 with me? Any one else had this happen?

That would freak me out. We hike a lot, but I've never stumbled into a pot field. Not too many options for carrying in a mode that would be very useful if you stumbled upon an armed assailant, so to answer to OP's question, no, we don't generally carry when out for a hike.Dave

When I was in the Forest Service we used to run into them quite a bit. We were supposed to report them. To H$LL with that! Those boys are usually armed to the teeth and the last thing we wanted was to have to fight it out with them with shovels and chainsaws.
We'd just look the other way and move along. We had bigger things to worry about.
I carry, legally, when hiking or camping, but have no intention of shooting it out with those guys. They can be very very bad people.
I'll more than likely fire off a few warning shots as I run away screaming like a girl!

That more of what I have planned if something was to happen. this happened to me and buddy that were out scouting for deer season, we ran into a giant pot field, luckly nobody was there but we are always armed when we go out, no need to take any chances.5.56: reach out and touch someone.
