Yep... Happened a couple months ago a few streets away from me. Lucky for me I have a big steel security door and my main door has a big decorative window that I can see through. It will be hard for them to pull off should they try it at my place.

Usually the quote is 43 times as likely, but this is covered here.

Life is full of trade offs. I prefer to take the very remote chance of having a thug force his way into my house over the much more likely chance of my children getting unsupervised access to guns. When I was a kid, me and my next door neighbor shot his dad's guns in the backyard in suburban San Jose. That is why I am careful to not let my children have unsupervised access to guns. Each person needs to assess their own situation and make their own decisions.

Hey, that gives me an idea. What about an anitgun fact or fiction forum. I'm sure everyone here has heard a lot of different things from the anit's. Would be cool to post what was said and let a group put a response together.
While it is probably true. It's a stupid fact.

It's no more significant than saying, that if you own a car and drive it daily, you are X times more likely to get hit by a semi truck than someone who does not own or drive a car.

Of course proximity to something deadly is going to give those in proximity to it a higher change to be injured by it than people who are not regularly in close proximity to it.

Exactly. If I had kids or lived where kids had access to my guns, I probably wouldn't keep a loaded one around.

I totally agree. YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SHOOTING AT! So what happened to the guy? I hope he got involuntary manslaughter or at least worst father award.

I don't know what's worse, letting in an unknown gang banger or an upset postal worker.

Not a single person in the crowd is rational or reachable because the parade's for gay folks and it's in SF.
