Nope. Bad medicine for the lender:

Penal Code 27500 is the prohibition on transfer to ineligibles:
    (a) No person, corporation, or firm shall knowingly sell, supply,
deliver, or give possession or control of a firearm to any person
within any of the classes prohibited by Chapter 2 (commencing with
Section 29800) or Chapter 3 (commencing with Section 29900) of
    Division 9.
Violation is punished according to Penal Code 27590
    (b) If any of the following circumstances apply, a violation of
this article is punishable by imprisonment in the state prison for
    two, three, or four years.
    (1) If the violation is of subdivision (a) of Section 27500.

Got my answers; thanks Librarian and all who posted. I'll have to ask my friend if her husbands restriction to firearms is her doing or his. If it's his doing and he's restricted by the court; he won't be going to the range with me anytime soon!
A good rifle build isn't cheap, but a bad one can be expensive!

My house; like the White House, is NOT a gun free zone!

Why not? He can watch and pick your brass while you shoot.

I've got a similar situation that comes up every so often. I have an acquaintance who knows I shoot and he has a felony conviction from many years ago. Every single time I run into this guy, he begs me to take him shooting! Every time I ask "aren't you prohibited from being around firearms?" and he says "gee, I don't think so, I think I just can't own one" so I say "well I guess you should check it out and make sure it's ok" and that never happens. It gets very tiring to go through the same conversation the once a month or so that we run into each other. I know I would never take a chance of shooting with him and possibly end up with both of us being felons or something

The guy really is a good guy and has completely turned his life around, BTW.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

There's got to be a better way to get to know this guy without risking the long arm of the law. Why not invite him out for a couple of drinks instead?

I think you aren't liable if you don't know he can't possess firearms... just if you knew he couldn't but lent them anyways... as I understand it

Seriously. I don't know how he finds stuff in PC so quick, it takes me 20 minutes to find what I'm looking for... and on some of it a good deal of thinking to understand that it is what I needed to find

Thanks - in this case, I had just done the research for the felon/black-powder thread, and all the links were in my post there.

Just now the re-numbering of the PC is making me crazy; I kind of had the 12000 block (dangerous weapon control laws) organized in my head, but the new numbers are not there yet.

If you would read the darn things pretty much daily for 8 years, you'd know them too ....

Or you can wait the appropriate amount of time and go through the expungement process.

Yeah... I've also noticed that coming across the same questions with the same answers over and over again I've started remembering PC sections also.
