Your expereicne is MUCH like one (ok severeal...) I had with a Very Norcal Dealer. It truly was a fraternal oder. I kept getting dragged in there with friends on quests to my own horror..... but then made it to a gun show where one of the owners of the store was actually working the booth. I explained my complete and utter disgust about the way I was treated and for that of others I had seen in there.

He was pisssed. He was real pissed. NOT at me mind you....but at his crew... Pissed BIG TIME at his crew. Told me his own usual hours and said he'd make it right as he was getting "wiffs" from even some of his regulars that not everything was kosher. So I go trudging in about a month later.............and surprise surprise--- 5 outta 8 brand new people, the 3 remainers were the owner & kin. Recognozed me right off and practically fell over himself to get to me and help me out. I ended up walking outta there with a pistol for wholesale cost PLUS $1 ((and dros...etc)) and a crate of ammo for $5.00 over his cost; aint NO ONE ever come close to those deals that day. Wes has heard me talk several occasions of the kitchen counter FFL's and thier steller deals and even they couldnt compete when I told them the price I got the pistol for; two telling me different than a third saying the FFL'r actuall sold me the pistol about $100 BELOW his cost.... I aint ever got a true figure...but I dont/didn't feel bad after the business I gave him thereafter.

I too in turn returned the favor & bought several more guns with nar' more than a "can ya' do better" when I saw the tag and they did....I KNOW they gotta make money. Made it purpose to send my friends there thereafter for quite some time and told them the same thing the owner told me-- COME SEE HIM if there is ANY problem. It IS HIS neck on the line with Business and FFL. I think I steeered him several thousand dollars in just pistol sales for about two months and alot more in rifles. I still him at the occasional show and he still gives me the knowing nod......

GO BACK AND TALK TO THE OWNER.......... I would be severely surprised if he didn't at least TRY to make things satisfactory..if not 100% right.

But hey, if one of those dudes you mentioned IS the owner....just walk and dont waster your time; there ARE good & decent FFL'r around
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered....
I am not a number! I am a free man

Find out who the owner is, draft a letter similar to your post above, and be sure to ask him if he's ever heard of the 'IntraWeb'... Then include the link to this thread. Be sure to tell him, not only will YOU never return, but you'll ALWAYS make a point of telling everybody you know, in person and online, about the rudeness you experienced at his store. Drop it in the box and feel good again.

It helps a little bit to vent online, but it feels even better when the owner finds out you're venting online.

I bought a gun from grants years ago and only stop in from ammo from time to time cause its a few minutes from my house.

But yeah I get ignored there a bunch too......but if you go over to there clothing section you get some of the best customer service anywhere....like they work for commission. The gun counter is still a joke.

I try not to buy stuff from places that don't give great customer service. I would rather spend a few extra bucks at a better place.

I think Randy is the owner of Grant's. I only deal with him, since I haggle with him over price. Service there is questionable, but they do out of state transfers for me with no problems. Turner's on the other hand is a different story, they are worse than Grant's.
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

                With guns, we are 'citizens.'

                Without them, we are 'subjects'.

I'd love to know the name. I am a die hard customer of Darin's Gun Exchange, as the customer service is more than outstanding...but i always like to send $$$ towards good people with good service.

PM inbound to the other guy; for the rest of ya' the FFL has retired...as said I DO still see him from time to time at shows but the shop is no longer If anyone remembers the History of Redding gun dealers then there are some here who might just remember which place it was I'll forgo the name for now as the place WAS definitely one either ya' loved or hated.

                        Hey metal,
You being from Redding, what do you think of that pawn/ gun shop up there. I don't remember the name or the street it was on. It was a big one with alot of antiques.
I was in there one day while visiting my brother. That store was the worst one I've been to as far as customer service. I was going to buy a rifle from them even thou it was a three hour drive to go pick it up.

NOT from there, just spend a lot of time there in the past and on jaunts through there to hunt. Couple hunting/shooting buds up there.....

Are you talking Old West???? They've had thier share too of exceptionally good years of cust. serv. and then absolute crap..and then back again. If you're not talking Old West then you're gonna need to gimmie another hint as nothin' else is coming to mind (that is still in biz).

That's the one Old West. waited about an hour while my brothers looked around at other stuff that they had.
I did'nt cut in on there BS'ing at the gun counter, But I did try to look like I was eager to buy something.
There is another gun store over by the Safeway. I think it was on Oxford rd and E Cypress ave. Now those guys are friendly and willing to answer all of your questions.

I've bought two guns from Grants. First one I shopped around and found them to be the lowest price by about $50 (enough to get me to forget their bad service), and the second was an inexpensive sks that I couldn't pass up.

But I don't go back there any more. Your experience is what people have come to expect from Grants over the years. You can be the only customer standing at the counter for 45 minutes staring at the three employees behind the gun counter and they won't even glance in your direction.

The owner knows his customer service though, so it may be worth your time to complain to him.

They don't get my business any more.

I've had similar problems with Grant Boys in newport beach.

I went in there to buy something (can't remember) but I stood at the counter for about 30 minutes being ignore (no other customers in gun area) until I finally left.

The guys there blatantly ignored me even when I asked questions. They would just look busy, ignore me and walk off.

I guess I am not "white" enough because some guy in a pair of cowboy boots got immediate service upon entering (reason I decided to leave).
