I debated posting this, but I was so angry after leaving this store, and this is not the first time. I'll discuss my two most recent experiences at this store, and I'll name the store. Why would I do this?
Well, I contemplated not naming the store, but stores are often named around here when they do good business or offer good deals. Why shouldn't a store be named if it offers crappy services or some other problem exists?
The store in question: The Grant Boys aka Grants for Guns in Newport Beach.
Never again will I set foot in this store, and I'll make it a point to tell anyone I ever have a conversation with to stay away from this store whenever possible.
Here is what happened to me the last two times I went to Grants.
Instance #1. I went in on a random weekday morning and it was very slow there. I began to browse guns and the one salesperson was helping me. I held about 2 guns and was about to ask for a third when a man walked in wearing a white doctor's coat. The salesperson dropped me like a bad habit to help this guy. He didn't excuse himself from me, he didn't ask if there was anything more I'd like to see, nothing. He didn't ask another associate to help me, maybe because there were no other associates anywhere around.
Ultimately, another salesperson came around and basically had me on ignore. I called him over and explained to him what had just happened, and he acted like he could care less.
Now, I know the gun stores get guys who loiter all the time and never buy anything. But I'm not one of those guys. I rarely go to the gun store, and if I do, I don't usually waste the salesperson's time unless I'm fairly serious and it is decision making time.
Instance #2: After vowing to never set foot in Grants after the first incident, I chose to go back today because I was in the area. I was open to give them another chance.
I went up to the counter and began to look at the handguns. I didn't ask for help, I was just looking down and through the glass. There were three guys behind the counter talking guns and looking at the guns. At the point in time I went in, there was nothing on the glass counters preventing my ability to browse.
As I was looking, one of the men behind the counter grabbed a case with a shotgun in it and almost hit me in the head as he landed it onto the counter I was looking through. He opened the case, completely blocking my view. Understand, I've been there 5 minutes or so and nobody asked if I wanted any help. Now, they've completely blocked my view so I can't look at their inventory. I stood staring at them very pissed off, and none of them seemed to notice. After about 2 minutes glaring at them, which I made real obvious, I said to one of them, "Did anyone even notice that I was looking through that case when you completely blocked my view...does anyone even care about customer service around here" and his response was "It wasn't me who opened the case" and he turned and got back into the conversation with his buddies.
I stood and stared another minute or two. The other two guys heard me, but still did not acknowledge my presence or my comment.
I walked out, and none of them ever said another word to me. No inquiry as to whether I could be helped, no apology, nothing.
So, I'm not sure if a post like this is allowed around here, and if it isn't, my apologies. But it is clear to me from my experiences that they could care less about customer service. Accolades for stores that treat us right are commonplace around here, and I think it only appropriate that when stores fail to live up to even some sort of decent customer service, we are allowed to air it to our gun community.
Thanks for reading my bitch session. I feel better now.
