    Burro Canyon?

Was thinking about going to Burro Canyon shooting range. Im from Long Beach. Will be shooting my AR and M91 30 a AK and some pistols. Any thoughts on this place or any other ideas on where to go?

Magnet attracting ammo is a no-no now at Burro.
Cool place especially if you bring some friends and rent a private spot.
There can be some numb skulls there sometimes, so watch the line well especially if there is no RO. Angeles shooting range takes about the same amount of time to drive to from LB and is a nicer range IMHO (no magnet attracting ammo there either).

From my experience, if it not fire season, you can shoot whatever you want there. I have shot wolf/magnet attracting rounds and they seemed to have no problem with it. Not sure if this was because the days I went were drizzly/rainy. If you visit their website it should say the same thing.

They were not allowing it a few weeks ago!

cause it is drying up. pretty much a good gauge of when they allow magnetic ammo is if it rained heavily recently. if not, then most likely no go. if you hear news of flash flood warning, then magnetic is good to go at burro.

they had fires up there before, and one of the fires did completely burn out burro, so they don't mess about. and for those that keep sneaking in those magnetic ammo to shoot, i wish horrible things upon them.

I love Burro. It's more laid back; some guys like that others do not.

Go on a weekday if you can. I usually go on a weekday around 11 - 1. You'll have the range to yourself more or less.

I've been once, rented a private range ($80 for up to 4 shooters, +$20/person after).

it was fantastic! The "open" shooting areas were pretty crowded, but if you get a private range I cannot imagine a better day of shooting without sneaking off to BLM land somewhere.

I've written up my ongoing adventures as I learn to hunt.

Yes, you CAN fit a case of shotgun shells into a .50cal ammo can.

I think i found an optimal solution for ammo can labeling.

I made this target for the NRA's Marksman pistol test. I think it's a lot better than the paper plate they suggest.

Any thoughts on where to pick up some 7.62x54 non-magnetic for a decent price.

they don't allow metal on their range, and you can't shoot bottles and stuff but you can shoot fruit.

Does anyone know if this goes for the private ranges? I could have sworn I saw the cowboy clubs shooting steel plates.
