I've been going to Burro for over a decade now, and I love how it is still mostly laid-back, particularly if you can go during the week. I never even try to go on the weekends now - too crowded and you get too many yahoos with lax attitudes toward safety, and as a result, the ROs are much more uptight.
I haven't rented a private range there yet, but I plan to when infirst take my son shooting. I'd rather have the easy, relaxed, unhurried atmosphere of being able to shoot at his own pace without distractions from other shooters, flying brass, and ROs barking orders over their bullhorns.
Back in the good ol' days of Burro, it was almost anything goes, with the exception of shooting bottles or cans. Metal plates, chunks of wood, pistols on the rifle range, shotguns on the rifle range, you name it, it was mostly allowed. They started checking for magnetic ammo around 3-4 years ago and so I had to time when I would bring my Mosins out, but overall I like that range. I just wish it weren't so darn far!"Two dead?!? HOW?!?"
