I hear that is the new way that the DOJ now requires to make your guns in the house safe from children by requiring that you lock the kids in the safe and keep the guns outside....


Plus it helps keep the house allot more quiet and peaceful that way.

A few years back, I was at Reed's in San Jose checking out their safes. A couple of kids were chasing each other around the store and one of them opened a safe and started to step into it.

First thing that came to mind was to yell at him to get the hell out of there. His eyes went wide and he ran over to his dad. He said something to his father, who then gave me a dirty look. I just shook my head and kept browsing. That was the end of that.

Children have a fascination with big boxes with doors. That is why it is usually advised that refrigerators be stored with their doors unmounted. I remember back when I was growing up that there had been more than a few tragic fatalities occuring from this. Kids like to lock themselves in the trunks of cars too. I think last year there were brothers somewhere back east that died not more than a few feet from their parents who unbeknownst to them had locked themselves in the trunk of the family sedan and had suffocated. They were frantically searching all over the neighborhood for these "lost" boys.

I can't stand the sight of little kids running all over the place and screwing with stuff while the dumbass parents just turn a blind eye.

My partner's daughter made a sign as soon as we put the gun safes in the shop.

"No kids in gun safe"

I wish I had taken a picture. It was written in true 6 year old style on a post it note and put on the safe.

The world might have been a better place of the little moron hadn't made it out (sarcasm people!).

At the Home Depot near where I live they recently started carrying Sentry safes, with a sign on them warning not to leave them unattended and open.
