Pretty sweet how many of our parents started us off at a very young age with BB/Pellet guns and then we moved forward. Dad was a stickler for gun safety and grilled me early. I love it when i see a dad at the range with a little kid in tow shooting his pellet gun while dad shoots next to him with his stuff.

Imagine how many kids who are now adults that never got that because their parents were just not gun people.

My first gun was a 10/22. Got it for my seventh birthday. Got a Honda Z50 for Christmas that same year. Dad was farming then. When he was out driving tractor, I would ride all over the orchards in the area shooting ground squirrels. He only gave me 100 rounds at a time. That was his way of checkin on me. I would have to go back for more ammo = he knew I was alright.
He would be thrown in jail now for doing something like that. Too bad. California used to be a great gun place.

By the way, as most of the posters shared, I still have that rifle with the original barrel. Thing is every bit as good today as it was 29 years ago.

Here's a pic of my boy and I up in the mountains with one of my 22's. He must have put 500 rounds through that gun that day. Shortly after that trip I bought him a Savage 22lr bolt action. He sprays them out too fast with the semi auto's He also shot my AR15 that day.

When I was 16 my dad gave me his S&W Model 36 nickel plated 5 shot .38 Cheif's special and Hi Standard M101 .22 pistol. He passed away a few months after I turned 17. That was 26 years ago and I still have both of them. I'll never sell them.

The holy grail of Christmas gifts for an 8 year old... an OFFICIAL RED RYDER carbine action two-hundred shot RANGE MODEL AIR RIFLE!! but mine didn't come with a compass in the stock.

ok... 1st firearm? actually... I can't remember!! It was a rifle I think, but I bought a lot of them at the same time... some had the 10 day wait while others I walk out the front door with. So are we asking which one I took home first? Or which one I bought first? I bought my Bushy AR15 & 92FS first, but took home a SKS, M44, & M1 Garand before I took delivery of the others. I still own each and everyone.

Still got it. Brand new for less than $590 back then...that's why I had to buy it.

I had the Red Ryder with the compass and curse the day I gave it away. My first actual FIREarm was a Jennings 9mm, what a piece of crap! Literally fell apart after about 50 rounds. No I don't still have it. Just got a Red Rider for my son....I might keep it for a while, after all, my son is only 3.

Stainless steel Taurus model 669 with 4" compensated barrel in .357. Paid under $300 for it new and it still looks and shoots like a million bucks.

An old marlin .22 and a Mossberg 185d. Don't know where either of em came from, neither of my parents can remember, but they were in my closet for as long as I can remember, like, since I was 3 years old. Never had any ammo for em till I was about 10. The marlin is in pieces right now waiting for me to finish up a teflon coating project I started but never finished, poor thing is sandblasted and soaking in WD-40. And the 185d sits around looking pretty (I parkerized it as a project in class) but never get's shot because of a very ugly crack running down the length of the stock.

Oh and I'd like to say I just purchased my 10th gun (I'm only 22) and it was my first handgun. A Rock Island 1911. Would have prefered to get a springfield armory, but I knew the gun was going to be torn apart and maimed in class, and I wanted something cheap to do that too.
