    Motor cops and their weapons

So, usually you see the shotgun on the motorcycle. Not a big deal, we're all used to seeing this. Lately I've seen M4's on Anaheim bikes, which was interesting. Then today I saw some sort of MP on a motor bike on the 57 freeway around Diamond Bar. I couldn't get close enough to make out what it was, but it almost looked like a Uzi crossed with a Steyr TMP. So, anyone know what this was?

That's awesome. Talk about intimidating. I love seeing the motor bike cops with the marine-coat 870's. Beautiful.

Curious- Are those marine-coat 870s the Police version or standard?

          Thanks

Here, I think it was a UMP, but it looks like they're UMP 40's.

One day I saw a weed cop (Riverside Co./ Cal Fire arson investigator) driving his truck and in the center mount was the shot gun with a mini 14 next to it.

Yeah.....I saw an AR/M4 on a bueana park PD motor unit awhile back. I was like "damn....check that out!"

Haven't seen anything like that down in San Diego tho.

La Habra PD carries M4s on their bikes.

So, *NOT* LEO bashing at all, but I never got that. It's never compton or LASD I see with that much firepower on their bikes, it's always nice/safe places like La Habra/Brea. I mean, do motor cops in Brea *often* need rifles? 0_o

Because bad people are not limited by arbitrary boundaries and do things in good neighborhoods too.

Chino PD carry AR15's in their vehicles... and they USE them.

Officers testify in preliminary hearing for deadly Chino shootout

By your assessment, Sheriff Hutchens is right in saying that people of Orange County do not need CCW's because they live in good neighborhoods right?

Motors have to respond to "real" crime too.

Back in the '70's I was driving through Vernon and a motor cop pulled up next to me. He was on a Harley and had a Winchester Model 97 in a front fork scabbard. It occurred to me that Vernon was not the place to break the law.

He should have had one of these also.

If I were the one who was allowed to select what a PD was allowed to carry, I would absolutely make the M4 available. You have a lot of ex military joining police departments after they serve. I am certain that anyone who carried an M4 in combat is going to be more proficient with it than a shotgun.
