cleaning multiple guns what do I need

I want to keep this really simple. you guys are mentioning way to many different things I need!

I need 1 good solvent, 1 good oil. I don't want a million different things.

how about breakfree clp and mobil 1? Or is that not enough and I need a strong solvent like break free or gunslick foaming bore leaner.

Look CLP does 3 things.......But it does not do any one of them really good. Get a foaming bore cleaner and a solvent you can use on a patch. Then get some good gun oil to go with the different size patches/brushes/jags you need. Get brake clean spray for the actions then CLP or Tri-flow to lube it.

Yes if you have different calibers you will need different size brushes and jags. I use rifle brushes for my pistols so I do not need to buy two of basicly the same.

Sorry but if you are going to do it right you have to not use a one thing does all wonder and expect a good result.

just add some patches, bore brush for the saiga 12 and AR's (or use the .22bore snake), a tooth brush, and rags?

As far as lubing up all the moving parts go, can either of these two products be used with success and/ or no damage? We use them on sailboats for a variety of things and especially cuz they won't attract salt crystals or gum up stuff.....

otis kit. and some rags and old toothbrush. than use cleaner of your choice.

Brake cleaner and rags are all you need to clean a pistol, then Mobil 1 to lube them.

Field stip the pistol.
Hose the old oil off the barrel & slide with brake cleaner.
I use a rag wraped around a smal screwdriver to clean out the rails.
Use a rag to wipe off the receiver and its rails.
Use Mobil 1 on the rails, barrel lugs and hood, a drop at the barrel bushing and reassamble.

Takes less than 10 minutes.

If you buy a bunch of gun specific stuff then start shooting allot you'll realize you don't need it. I shoot a match nearly every weekend so I'm a cleaning at least one gun on a weekly basis. The stuff above will clean 1911's, Glocks, 22's and revolvers.

I got a simple cleaning kit for multiple calibers. One bottle of oil has lasted over two years for several firearms, but buy A LOT of solvent.

That's my experience.

I have serveral cans of Breakfree clp, and rem oil clp. I just field strip, spray down with breakfree. wait a little and wipe everything off. then i just spray remoil, wipe off and put my guns back together. SIMPLE and effective. as long as you clean right after shooting breakfree clp will get everything out.

As far as oil goes, I'd recommend EWL Slip 2000

Boresnakes are for immediate, so-so cleaning. I suggest spending a little money on good cleaning rods. You will want a different one for .22 rifles, .30 cal rifles, shotguns, .22 pistols and centerfire pistols. You will also want jags for each caliber, patches, bore cleaner, lube, etc. Personally, I don't introduce anything with teflon into a rifled bore. Teflon has been known to ruin precission rifle barrels to the point that it's cheaper to replace them than to remove the teflon fouling from them. CLP is what the military uses because it is easier for the less intelligent soldiers to use than having 3 different, but better, products. It's also easier for supply to stock just one product.
