Why the Appleseed a Message for Calgunners

For the record, when I do normally shoot prone at the range, I use one of those sleeping pads that ones usually takes camping. Never tried it out on the mud though...

I would love to an Appleseed some time because I am VERY interested in improving my shooting, and because I love history. Especially the history that is relevant to all of this.

Only problem, is that I don't feel that my CZ-452 (While an excellent rifle), I fear that I will eat dirt because I only have the factory 5 round mag--that's it. I am sure that one single mag, combined with a bolt action is not the best for the rapid fire shooting sessions.

We've had quite a few CZ-452's on the line. But you will be happier with a second magazine. Even just another 5-rounder will be enough, though if you are able having a 10-round and a 5-round is better. Having three is better still in case one flakes out on you.

The CZ is a great rifle. One thing to watch, though, is your cheek weld in prone. Nearly every student I worked with needed some kind of cheek pad to get a solid, repeatable weld. This need not be expensive -- even duct tape and a chunk of foam will work if you're not fussy about appearance.

I used a camping mattress for a pad too, and it was in the mud. Worked fine.

I shot Rifleman today in Dulzura!! I'm pretty sure sevensix2x51 did as well. It was you with the 236 right?! Outstanding shooting. I got a 214, but I got my patch!

Appleseed is an outstanding program. I went from being a horrible shot to a good shot! I wasn't even aware of how horrible I was until I shot an 81 on the AQT yesterday haha! But today, thanks to Appleseed and the great instructors, I stand before you all as a Rifleman! I definitely will be back, and I will bring others!

I feel that I can shoot fine with my CZ on the prone. My biggest problem most likely is that I am left handed shooting a right handed rifle. I love that rifle, but it probably isn't for me if I had to rapid fire. When I normally practice, I take my time and all that.

Unofortunately, I was actually looking into getting more mags and boy! Those things are expensive as heck! I think that once I get my AR, then I will head out to an Appleseed. And my spring semester of college starts tomorrow all the way until May/June. I dropped the ball last semester, so I will make a better effort this time. It would make sense for me to attend when I don't have to worry about school.

But I definitely see an Appleseed in my future, one way or the other.

congratulations! everybody should do an appleseed, and then another one. i am coming back for more, as soon as i can. gonna bring mama along for the next one. im pretty confident that the folks at appleseed can teach anyone to be a respectable marksperson.

I'm doing the same! I already installed the TSR200 battle sight, just have to get the sling and mounts.

You do need another magazine. But my brother has run a CZ 452 at several shoots. He keeps knocking on the door, but hasn't quite made it yet. It's a clash of styles, not equipment.
