    foam ear plugs

i'm bringing a few new shooters out and i realize we dont have enough ears and eyes for everyone. i was wondering if all of those foam ear plugs are made equal of is there some kind've rating system or what. i was thinking of picking up some plugs for snorers/sleeping from the pharmacy dept at my local store but i wasnt sure if there was some kind've label i should be looking for

No, they aren't all made equal. I have no idea about the ones for people that snore, but a better option would be to go to the hardware store(lowes, home depot, etc.) as you'll find more options, probably some with db ratings, and bulk packs.

ETA: Something like this maybe http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...atalogId=10053

I doubt you're going to get 80 pairs from the drug store for $15, and you'll definitely want more than 1 pair per person(they get lost when people take 'em out)

I actually got some cheap ones at the drug store that work great. Just pay attention to the decibel reduction rating.
The capitalist economic model is fundamentally flawed. It is not self sustaining, and can only maintain itself with constant growth. Obviously infinite growth is impossible, so the question is not whether the economy will collapse, but when.

Get your guns, ammo, and food while the stores still stock them. Prepare yourself now, because when the meltdown comes it will be too late.

Just look for the DB level. They should printed on the packaging of the foam plugs. Also make sure they are worn properly. They shouldn't protrude out of the ear too far.

If you are near Modesto you can stop by and I will give you a handfull of them. I still have a couple of bulk boxes of them that followed me home from work. Also earglass cleaner and some safety glasses.

I tried the 33DB earplugs at the range last night, indoors. Insufficient IMO. A good set of ears beats them out.

                          +1 on Harbor Freight

I got a box of them years ago and hand them out like it's Halloween.

The trick to getting them to work is to roll them between your fingers until it is small enough to slip into your ear canal. I always see noobs at the range that obviously tried to just stuff it into their ear without compressing it first. Properly installed foam earplugs work pretty well.

I typically wear just my Surefire sonic defenders that have a NRR of 24 db and never had any issues with noise. Are you guys saying that I'm gonna be losing my hearing?
