After reading some of these comments I don't feel so bad anymore, especially since he picked up that $4K 1911 today and we are going to shoot it tomorrow.

I started asking questions about this subject with him and I'm starting to realize I got him into a hobby he REALLY enjoys, he seems to be into the precision stuff. After he picked up the 1911 today he bought some fancy M1A that he just had to have...now I'm just jealous

Keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't bring one of those guns into work and see how they shoot. That is kind of a popular trend these days when one "snaps"!!!

personally, the happier i am with my life, the less i tend to pay attention to my hairstyle or deodorant. life is good, no need to sweat a wrinkled shirt.

different people enjoy their hobbies in different ways. just enjoy being able to bs about something besides TPS reports with your coworker!

It ain't your fault !!! Just ask him point blank; "Do you think you have a problem with anything?" Be a friend and lend an ear. Maybe he is going thru something ...

The funniest thing about your post is you described this guy pretty well, he doesn't shave for weeks at a time, wears the same stuff for days at a time but I know for a fact he is filthy rich (trust fund kid)..he is definitely peculiar.

Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy to work with, but some days I want to pelt him with a bar of Dial.

I think the guy has OCD or something. He jokingly says "his wife is going to divorce him if he buys another" but I'm concerned that he isn't joking. Lately he's been staying a lot later at work and he seems to be more unkempt. I suspect he is already having marital problems but is not saying anything.

Would you say I did something wrong? The other 3 guys I turned on seem OK and are content with the couple items they purchased..this one last guy though seems like he is on a mission to "one up" everyone and buy the best of the best. He recently bought this Wilson Combat 1911 that was almost close to $4K and he's never even shot a .45. I feel like a triggered some sort of compulsive disorder.

Part of me says it's not my problem, this guy buys top quality stuff and lets me shoot it. The other half says you contributed to some sort of syndrome and it's all my fault if his family falls apart.

              Thoughts?

If you got him into Heroin, I'd say it's your fault. Just sounds like he found a new passion. If you're worried about him having a dangerous obsession, get him into stamp collecting.
With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

I kinda went the same way. I was a "gun nut" as a kid but couldn't afford any. Now I'm in my 50's & picked up a Win 1300 for HD in '00.

Then a .45 Semiauto in Nov '08...(like a lot of people)

                  Then a .357 wheelgun...

                  Then a loading press...

Let's just say it's "kinda" gotten a little out of hand. I can say each one has a "purpose" so far... I don't have what I would call an "arsenal" yet.

Just a hobby I've rediscovered & have the resources to indulge a little.

Monkeys will fly out my butt before I buy a $4K 1911 tho...

                    Ex.
There once was a man named Klaproth
Who cooked up some pitchblende-y broth
                    This bright German fellow
                    Mixed cake that was yellow
And found something new in the froth

                    He'd already discovered Titanium
Because of the size of his cranium
So not wanting to strain us
                    He thought of Uranus
And called his new product "Uranium"

Now Amazon's got it in stock
I'll admit that one came as a shock
                    An ore in a tin
                    Radioactive within
With a four-million year ticking clock

I just noticed while writing this rhyme
That this product ain't covered by Prime
                    Though small, it's got weight
So you'll pay lots for freight
And spending that much is a crime

So although I'd have wanted much more
Than this tiny container of ore
                    I'll have to make do
                    With one U 92
For my Geiger device checking chore

But if science is your main ambition
                    Since Amazon gives you permission
                    Please cover your *****
If you want to tint glass
And you can't tell your fusion from fission

This may sound strange and unbelievable to you, but it is real and true.
