OK, I'll give it a whirl:
000 buck MAY penetrate the windshield, but will lose nearly all of it's energy doing so...if it does. Windshields are tough......tiny rocks making big cracks not withstanding (I'm on my 4th windshield this year due to rock dings).
Should YOU be shooting at said windshield in the first place? Depends on if YOUR LIFE is in danger. Simply finding someone on your property, gives you NO REASON to shoot them, or even at them in thier car. Are they trying to back up and get away? Let them. You are in no danger from a fleeing bad guy. Are they racing toward you, leaving you NO escape? Fire away...but don't bet on the buckshot getting through all that front glass.
You are extremely limited in responding with deadly force in this state, regardless if you want them dead or not. Use of deadly force can only be used when YOUR life, or the life of another, is in IMMEDIATE peril of death or injury.
Bad guys driving away just ain't that. Pounding a round at them to "teach them a lesson" will get you a set of new stainless steel bracelets, a complimentary stay at the gray Bar Hotel courtesy of local law enforcement, and a brand new record to play for life.
So....000 buck can penetrate windshields. Sometimes, and with great loss in performance or stopping power.
Get a large loud dog for your property."A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......CiceroComment

Thanks Army for your post. I had no intent to assault anyone. I was under the influence big time. As you people can read above. I was asking the question about buckshot theoretically.I approached these perps while they getting in their car.Stupid because I am sure if i had blocked there path and showed more aggression they might have run me down. To the other posters ... I have a dog and cameras do NOTHING!. This aint my first rodeo with lowlifes.Comment

Whatever you do, don't blow out car windshields when hammered. It doesn't look good in court. When the police catch a buzz just from the liquor bleeding out of your skin, it goes in the report. Headline goes "2 victims slain by drunken gunman." It will then go on to discuss the intruders orphaned children. Not a position you want to be in. Stay sober and keep the lights on for the next couple weeks.Comment

000 buck might work, but wouldn't be a very good choice IMO. The rest of your posts don't make any sense. So someone is trespassing on your property in their car and you want to stop their car and shoot through their windows? That's got felony on your part written all over it unless they were in the process of threatening your life, which sounds unlikely if they hadn't gotten out of their car from your description and you're the one confronting them not the other way around. Trespassing is not just cause for homicide, just call the police. I could be misunderstanding, you've made several posts but have yet to write a clear description of the situation.Last edited by stix213; 12-17-2010, 1:33 PM.Comment

From reading this is sounds like... there were intruders on your property, and you came online to ask what ammo to load in your gun before calling the cops or confronting them?
This is a whole new level....Comment
