bah! vampires, werewolves, the boogey man.... the day those come along, we're all doomed.

Realistically, zombies may be a possibility.... but I would think aliens would be something that would happen over the other things (unless some scientists create and release some messed up virus, all resident evil style). But then with aliens, you run into the issue of what kind, and if our firearms would even stop them, let alone have any affect on them

Winchester silvertips allegedly have had some success in stopping vampires... but not as effective when the vampire wears thick/heavy cloak.

Cut little crosses into the tips of 45acp... 9mm to small to put an effective cross onto it and it would only really wound them for a short term...but 1 45acp will demolish them. Because shooting twice is silly.

This is the most common sense answer here. But in every movie, you see people shoot the beejeebers out of a monster, and then when it's down they stand over it wondering "did I really kill it?" only to find the monster jumps back up a few seconds later and bites them and kills that person..... when all it would taken was a swift blow/slice to the head or neck to dis-member it from the rest of the body. Then that'll buy you a little more time to pour an accelerant over the body & head an burn them both.
