This^^ ,although the LEO you spoke with may have some knowledge on this AIRBORNE has paperwork to back it up. Its not worth it when you get gun checked and you say officer so and so said. That doesn't hold up in court to well

NOPE!. Only IF it's a RAW, or it's the Dept's AW AND you're on duty or if the AW is issued to you w/ a letter from your capt. etc.

In other words, if you have to use a BB, it's to get around it being an AW and if it's an AW, there are NO LE exceptions (while off duty)

Now you can have hi caps (if otherwise legally obtained), but you CAN'T stick them into a rifle with any evil features. (again, unless on duty etc.)

Since you are LEO and you can legally buy 20 and 30 rounders, you should consider a "featureless" build with a Monster Man or fin grip, fixed stock, and muzzle brake.

20 and 30 round mags are legal to own. Just remember this:

Bullet Button + mag of more than 10 rounds = Assault Weapon (no LEO exemption.)

What they all said, more importantly thank you, thank you, thank you for educating yourself on the OLL extravaganza. Much respect to you Mr. LE It is always good knowing there are police out there who will recognize a legal firearm if needed.

Same situation last weekend at SLOSA range. Was told the shooter was LEO, firing 30 rounders out of a full feature BB'd rifle, and he was legal to do so.

Informed RSO that the BB made it a 10 round rifle, no exceptions. If the shooter was truly LEO, he could obtain a letterhead waiver and register his rifle as an actual AW and would not need a BB.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the shooter told the RSO a little fib about his employment.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

Many agencies will not issue a letterhead waiver for their officers.

There are other options. Hammerhead grip - $24.99.
$13.99 on cosmetically blemished units while supplies last.

Sounds like your FFL either doesn't undestand the law or just wants you to commit a felony by having you manufacture an illegal AW.

Why is it that some folks find it their responsibility to go around policing other adults about the LAW and telling a RSO that someone may not be compliant. It's no ones business unless a LEO makes it theirs. If a person is so compelled to tattle so to speak why not just address the person they think is an offender? I have RAWs and BB ARs and I enjoy dropping a magazine and popping a new one in with virtually no distruption. I also see no need in monitoring others. They are adult, let them live their informed or uniformed lives. Just my .02..
