    condor zones, WTF?

so I'm sure this has been discussed at length around here, but i just learned this whilst reading through the DFG site on condor zones http://www.dfg.ca.gov/wildlife/hunti...nformation.pdf

you can plink lead ammo all day long in the condor zone, but you cant hunt with it? wtf??? are the people that write these laws really as retarded as they make themselves out?

in a sick and twisted way, im glad they leave these gaping loop holes in the philosophy of their cause, but at the same time, i wonder, can they truly be this stupid?

Those poor condor's get sick from lead, but it's not proven copper doesn't the same to them.

I quit hunting because of the Condor laws. But it also leaves me vunerable when I carry a handgun if I don't have a hunting license. But I guess that was the "plan" the anti-gun rulers wanted anyway.

            Yes, they probably are.

Personally, I wouldn't take any lead ammunition into a condor zone, even if you don't intend to hunt with it. You might run into an overzealous game warden, and even though we're supposed to be innocent until proven guilty...I wouldn't want to risk it.

Also, I think the document that you linked to contains partly obsolete information; I'm almost positive that lead-free .22 LR ammunition now exists. How it shoots is another matter...

Forest conservation laws were made by people who has never left city life. The fact is, activists usually get their way via lobbying.

Why are regular Turkey Vultures seemingly immune to lead while the California Condors are not? The regular buzzards are everywhere.

i heard they are more likely to die from eating trash than from lead. some biologists cut open a couple dead condors and found things like nuts, bolts, bits of cloth, plastic shards, etc.

Yeah I see them in the SFV all the time.

Last year, I had an eco-queen fawning all over them, claiming "Condors! California Condors! Soooo beautiful!" I just had to shake my head and laugh. She would NOT believe that she was just looking at a half-dozen turkey buzzards. No sir. She had seen 6 condors for a once in a lifetime experience.

If they go extinct can we have our lead bullets back?

                        Hint, Hint.

Hey now, if you kill all the condors I'll be mad as hell. Don't do it.

Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.

The ammo exists, but the regulations didn't change the instant it came into existence. There are a few people here that keep saying the regs have changed for hunting with .22 rimfire but I have yet to see anything saying so from the DFG and no one that likes to spout this info has been able to back it up with anything in writing from the state.

The ammo exists, but who defines when it becomes widely available and wouldn't the DFG have to put something to that effect into writing?
