I take it you didnt have them in a safe? Guns should be in a safe. It amazes me how fast some one will drop coin on a firearm they want but wont even think about protecting said firearm.

Who says you have to spend 2k on a safe. I spent half that and the safe company bolted it to the ground for me. My safe holds 48 guns and weighs 710 lbs.NRA LIFE MEMBERComment

well i got a call while i was on my annual hunting trip in kansas by a detective and said they found a pistol with the matching serial number that i reported stolen. i said i would call him back when i get back in town and so i did. apparently they are going to hold it for fingerprints and whatnot but when they are all done, they will let me come pick it up. the detective said it was found in a park. not sure which though. good thing is that i wont have to replace that one. i was hoping it was the 500 because that is the most expensive and insurance only gave me half value. insurance stated that guns depreciate in value...uhhh not.Last edited by aaronraby1; 12-15-2010, 4:35 PM.Comment

He probably doesn't have a full replacement policy. Few people do, they are expensive. I had a "water escapement" and the carpet in the master was 10 years old. They said it was depreciated beyond any value, but I happened to have a full replacement policy and negotiated new marble tile in the area of the damage only (since most of the carpet wasn't damaged but the rule is line of sight). I came out ahead and got rid of carpet in the bathroom (seriously, who puts carpet in a bathroom?)Comment

Secure storage doesn't have to be expensive or large. Some people call my safe "small", "cheap" and "unreliable" but it's better than nothing.
Glad to her your getting 1 back, I had a friend recently get her xd40 recovered after being on the lamb for 4 years. it happens some times.
As to your insurance "depreciating" your guns value: what method did they use? Much like cars, used guns also have a Blue Book. I'm sure you could find a helpful person who could quote you higher figures than what some insurance adjuster figured.Comment

that sucks man.
Hopefully these criminals gets a nice serving of justice and you get your belongings back.
I'll keep an eye out if i see anything that resembles your guns. you never know, i live not too far from the 562 area, but things pop up everywhere. Spread the word guys.

Sounds like that thing has a body count on it now. Glad they found it. As for the insurance agency saying guns depreciate to 50% value.. lol.. I wish I could easily find used guns for 50% of what they cost new.Comment
