    Parents against me owning guns

I turn 18 on december 3rd and my parents have made it clear that they don't want me having any guns in the house and I suppose its a "rule.".. when I'm 18 the world will then see me as an adult and I'll be expected to be responsible for my actions. My concern is could I get in trouble with the law if I purchased a firearm and brought it home to my room without my parents knowledge and when they're completely against me owning one.

No I am not some street gangster wanting a gun to go shootup a rival gang and IF I was, I would have no concern for the law whatsoever. I am an AMERICAN.

in effect you become a renter, and the land lord, i believe can dictate what you bring inside the house,

this is starting to make no sense to me!

just be aware they can kick you out

        2 options I may suggest
1- move out the day your 18 and legal, get your own place, pay your own way, and if you have the huevos challenge the law and file a lawsuit against the state and get the law changed to ownership at 18. Im sure several gun friendly law firms might take your case.
2- less drastic, join the military the day you turn 18, pick a service and a military job/training that will carry over to civilian life for employment. Your choice active duty or reserves. Sends a clear message to parents, its YOUR life, your going to live it your way. Plus you will have access to good firearms training, especially Army or Marines. and you will grow up real fast and learn some things about being an adult in this world.

A number of things occur when you turn 18. Your an Adult legally. You can own Long Guns. Your Parents are no longer legally responsible for you. They no longer have to feed, clothe, or house you. In other words they can toss you out at their will. Mine lived here with me after turning 18Yrs. old as long as they followed "My House, My Rules". Guess your in that same boat now. Food for thought. Good luck with your Adult decisions in life.

When Mommy and Daddy still lay down the law at their home, then yes, you'd be in trouble with the law.

Move out. Be responsible for yourself. Problem solved.

Close to correct. At 1 day old he can OWN any legal long arm. At 18 he can OWN any legal handgun. But, he can only PURCHASE long arms and non-handgun ammo. That said, he can either be given a handgun by his parents or legally manufacture one without even needing to put a SN on it or register it.

Anyway, I agree with, their house, their rules. Buy a safe and either store it at a friend's house or get a storage unit. Some indoor ranges also rent lockers.

as an adult the first thing you should stop doing is sneaking around as a child would do.

You parents house their rules, you want to do what you want to do, then move out and support your self.

In all honesty I waffle between finding you disgusting and pitying you that your life is so void of anything substantial that you measure yourself by 'conquests' and who you know that can get you in where.

their house, their rules.. understanding and living by that is part of being an adult.. "sneeking" a gun in the house would show that you may be 18 but are by no means an adult or someone mature enough to be owning a firearm..
get a job, get your own place, pay your own way and if youve got any money left over then get yourself a gun..
Boy the way Glen Miller played, songs that made the hit parade, guys like us we had it made, those were the days, and you know where you were then, girls were girls and men were men, mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again, didn't need no welfare states everybody pulled his weight, gee our old Lasalle ran great, those were the days!

Another option is you keep your guns at a safe location outside of you parents home, like a friends gun safe or someone else you trust.

If you want to be treated as an adult, start acting like one. If you want to live with mommy and daddy, their rules will apply. You want your own rules, you need your own space, move out.

Stupid people don't know they are stupid. Because they are stupid. They will follow evil geniuses and do their bidding, because they are stupid.

Really super stupid people look up to, and follow stupid people like they were geniuses, because to them, they are. Unfortunately the reality of it is, that doesn't make stupid people any smarter.

That right there is the root cause to most problems in the world.

If you show responsiblity by staying in school and having a part time job. Little by little you can show your maturity and the ability to be your own man. Then maybe they'll let you stay and have your own guns. I would look for one of their good friends that owns guns and have a talk with him/her about your situation. Maybe the friend can somehow invite your folks to a range for some lessons? DON'T push the issue !!! You don't really know why your folks are anti-gun, maybe they are afraid and no one showed them. They might have a bad experience with guns. Find out slowly!! If they still don't want you to have guns then don't get'em until you can afford to move out.
