Both are good and both very accurate OOTB. Remington has much more aftermarket and factory support and is the standard when it comes to bolt action. It is battle proven time and time again. And R700 is definitley the customizable king of bolt actions. I have shot both but have only owned R700's just because I like and prefer them more and for the reasons I and many have stated. Supposedly, the R700 is more accurate at greater distances than Savage or anyone. All I can say is, both are much much more accurate than the shooters. I know I have a hard time shooting anything at MOA greater than 300 yards unless I am on a solid rest. If I am using a bipod and the buttstock is not on a rest, I move too much.Comment

Back in the '80's, I bought my first bolt rifle, a Savage, the rifle was problems from the beginning. Something was wrong with the bolt, firing pin or hammer and could have been a combination of all of them. I sold it and bought a Remington. I've never had a single issue with my Remingtons.Comment
