    Security guard shops while carrying.

So the other day I was in a store and I noticed a security guard shopping while carrying his gun. He doesn't work there (I have a friend who does). I know he doesn't work in the area.

I didn't think It was a big deal, although my friend and his boss weren't too thrilled.

But here is the thing. There is a middle school about two blocks away. So all I'm thinking is, if a cop walks in this dude is in trouble.

I didn't say anything to him about it. but was he in violation of the GFSZ act? Or am I wrong? Not judging, just wondering about the law.

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it.

I demand 100% compliance. Not 80%, not 90%, no 99%. 100 EFFING PERCENT. I'm sorry if the law enforcers don't like the laws and Constitution they swore to uphold... Actually, I'm not. -Brandon

I'd imagine since the guard card is a type of permit that it may exempt from GFSZ but probably not grounds. Since a guard could have to work at an establishment inside GFSZ boundaries. A CCW exempts from GFSZ and is probably a similar permit.

I am not too familiar with GFSZ Act. I work as armed security as well and he may be in violation of PC 12031(d)(5) unless he was getting paid to be there.

What store was this? I know of some people who send employee(s) to pick up uniforms, gear, lunch, etc for the staff.

Technically he was was in Violation of a B&P code regarding carrying to and from work or the range. But seriously, Big ****in Deal. While a uniformed and armed person was shopping, the place was safer. Armed and uniformed people are a deterent or at the very least a good BG target which makes everyone else safer...yes? And who knows, he might actually know how and be inclined to take action in the event that something jumps off.... Dont sweat the small stuff...

          626.9

          (m) This section does not apply to a security guard authorized to
carry a loaded firearm pursuant to Section 12031.
What is 626.9? Look it up and save it.

LASD Security does this all the time. Private Patrol does it all the time.

            No big deal.

Thats the problem with Kalifornia, someone sees a guy with a gun and freaks out. The guy was just shopping. Imagine the "panic" if Kailfornia were to allow LOC

He was probably on patrol and decided to do some shopping.

AFAIK the guard card is only to and from work and while on duty. Not entirely sure whether shopping after work would be considered coming back from work.

But still, everyone here's right. Who cares. More people need to carry.

Yep. Directly to, from, and between posts during the course of employment would be covered. De-minis stops may also be. However, a full-on detour from your route to or from work would not likely be an exemption to being armed.

Was he infringing on anyone else's rights to life, liberty, and property?

                            No?
