Wow, some people posting in this thread seem a little tense.

My only concern was, I would have felt bad for him had he gotten in trouble. (besides it may have been perfectly legal)

I don't agree with many of the gun laws, but they are still the law and people still get in trouble.
I didn't say anything to him, because 1) it's not my place to tell him what to do and 2) I'm not arrogant enough to think I know enough about gun laws to start opening my trap.

My friends boss was I think, more worried about other customers freaking out. No one did and the guy finished his shopping and left. (It's a hole in the wall video store) No harm no foul.

I might remind people that it is a private business and some people just don't like guns and that's ok too.

I just thought It posed an interesting question and this is the place to ask.

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it.

I demand 100% compliance. Not 80%, not 90%, no 99%. 100 EFFING PERCENT. I'm sorry if the law enforcers don't like the laws and Constitution they swore to uphold... Actually, I'm not. -Brandon

I work armed patrol security. I take my lunch wherever. My lunch is interuptable due to calls. Get over it.

supposedly while you're "working" you can rolled armed. But when you're off you are supposed to go straight home. But a lot of guards are on roam between locations, lunch break, etc. Often I would take my lunch right before work ( since i worked late so not a lot open when I get off ) I went to in & out once and the whole place stared at me like I was going to hold the place up ( except for the workers there, they didn't care ). Mind you I'm in full uniform, duty belt, etc. It was a interesting experience. Usually the local PD are quite friendly whenever I run into them. Once while working post outside someone called the police on me, reporting a "man with large gun" lol. The local sheriffs came and just made sure I was ok as they know security are usually posted at the location. Kinda funny that even with my full uniform someone called the police.

I used to work in retail and the armored truck guys would come in, pick up the store cash and then get distracted by electronics gadgets on their way out. I used to help them out with stuff, answer questions and things like that. The whole time, they'd be standing there with bags of cash in their hands. Oddly, I never felt unsafe for even a second despite the evil baby/puppy/kitten killing guns on their hips.

Citizen 14 I see your concern there for the armed guard. It does not bother me one bit. I always see it as a "deterance" or the "first one" to get it if a situation arise. I know it sounds cold at the latter part of my statement.

I've only had a security guard come into my place once LOC. I didn't mind. The people walking around with a gun in a holster usually aren't the ones who are gunna **** with you.
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

I just wish we all had the right to LOC.

I wouldn't worry about a guy in a guard uniform carrying his gun. For all you know he maybe on break or going to lunch etc. now if it was a guy tatted up gang banger with a glock fotay with the HAMMER cocked back in his hand then I would start to worry.

How do you know he is a security guard? Uniforms and patches are not controlled items. Maybe he is a wannabe and that way he does not get bugged about having a firearm.
