    The Garand is a prop.

    Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Clint Eastwood is the man! Probably the only man alive that could kick the arse of Chuck Norris...I'm just saying...

Every time an old Clint western comes on tv on one of those lazy weekend days...tell me you don't stop and watch every time...I know I do.

Sorry for the misspelling. It can happen after about 8 shots of JD
Actually it could of been possible that Clint decided to use from his personal collection. He is a big gun buff and not your typical Hollywood liberal actor. Surplus shows us that it was indeed a prop that was used but its unreasonable for you to straight rule out the possibility that they could be operational and owned by him strictly because its a movie.

Pretty sure Hollywierd and SAG don't allow the use of any real guns anymore. It has been several years ago now but an actor was killed during a scene that used a real gun that was supposed to have blanks in it. I think after that they disallowed the use of any 'real' gun.

I know every gun I have ever seen that is a "movie" gun had a plugged barrel and a live round cannot even be chambered. The blanks they use are a slightly different configuration and allowed to function in the gun. They have a small flash hole in the barrel so you still get the muzzle flash and they will build enough pressure to function the slide.

They say Gran Torino might be Clint's final acting job.

Last night I watched "The Shootist", John Wayne's final acting part. (?)

I actually thought it was plagued with bad acting and couldn't enjoy it because of that. Aside from Clint Eastwood, I felt like I was watching a movie filled with actors from the local community college. The girl just straight up sucked!

Clint has said publicly he will not act on screen again, that Gran Torino was it. He will continue to direct, probably until the day he dies.

The Shootist was not intended to be the Duke's final role, it just worked out that way. He had at least a couple of projects in development through his final couple of years but was never well enough to make them.
