You should always be pro-active in taking care of your problems.

If the bike quits, you should have a cell phone stashed somehwere on the bike with a charged battery. all cellphones, even deactivated ones that you buy for a buck at the swapmeet will call 911.

call 911, have the police dispach a tow truck etc. don't just abandon the bike and wait to be discovered'

No advice here, just things to think on while loading up.

If the bike quits (for whatever reason) running while enroute, what do you do?
Knowing that if you leave the bike, it may not be there when you get back.

Do you stay with bike or take a walk?
If you walk do you take your guns & ammo or leave them?

If you stay with the bike and someone stops to offer you a ride to get your truck, what are you going to do?

If someone stops and you have the feeling they have something more sinister on their minds rather than just helping, what action are you going to take?

When the CHP stops to investigate why you are on side of road what will be your response to his/her questions?

Again these are things to think on, I offer no advice other than to think about these things ahead of time and plan accordingly.

Up here in the central valley its not uncommon to see rifles out and about. The shooting club is way out in the country so one sorta makes a plan when going to shoot.

This isn't a part of the course, just things that naturally come up in conversation during the 2 day evolution, like tire pressures.

I should accually use my gig bag for a weapon case.. seems how my guitar doesn't fit it and i sold the one that did..
I do this. I use a soft guitar case stuffed with foam and it will hold an AR or my shotgun with the barrel removed. I have a Remingto 1100 with a 26" barrel. I have also used a soft rifle case slung over my shoulder and never had any problems with the police on the Bay Bridge or in San Francisco when I used to ride to Chabot, but I like the guitar case better. For some reason, cute young women think musicians are cool and would give me smiles and sometimes wave when they thought I had a guitar with me. As for pistol, I just put it in a soft case and carry the case in my back pack. Try it, you'll like it.

Someone makes a proper gun-case in a guitar shape, with the right padding, latches, etc. I ran across it while looking for something else, so I don't remember where I saw it.

actually, that's not a bad idea. Get a guitar "gig" bag like this: http://www.fender.com/products/searc...tno=0991432006

it may not support the rifle as much as you'd like, but it looks innocent...

It seems that in my neck of the woods no rules apply to bicycles.
As Einstein has shown that it takes infinite energy to accelerate a mass to the speed of light, Obama AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE will demonstrate that it takes infinite money to attain utopia

Carry laws are carry laws. Vehicle type (except aircraft) or lack of vehicle doesn't matter.

You DO have to have a legal destination (range, gun smith, buddy's house) when transporting a handgun ( + gotta be in a locked container, or apparently a holster.) Long guns (excepting registered AWs) can be carried however way you want, so long as they're unloaded.

I laughed at the guy talking about trigger locks and cable locks... what a noob.

I have to get myself registered at BARF... since I'm about to become a Bay Area rider..
