Dont worry about it, your 9mm will be fine. True most cops do prefer a .45 or .40 allot carry a 9mm of duty, when a compact gun is needed (.38 snubs are also popular) The .45 and .40 are the better rounds to stop a fight with but your 9mm will also get the job done.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

I'd much rather be hit in the leg by a .45 (or .44 mag for that matter) than between the eyes with a 9mm.
Shot placement is more important than caliber. Since he's LAPD SWAT, have him ask Scott Reitz at ITTS what the most important factor in gun-fighting is. I've taken several classes with him and as I remember we spend almost 100% of our time shooting, not discussing calibers.Last edited by Aldemar; 07-16-2010, 3:50 PM.AL

I'm glad your swat buddy never talked to Andy Brown, he would had probably never tried to shoot a 9mm at an active shooter that was shooting at him with an ak variant.sigpicThe society that separates its scholars from its warriors, will have its thinking done by cowards and its fighting done by fools. "I got off my bike, drew my weapon, crouched down and shouted, 'Police; drop your weapon!'" Mellberg ignored the order and continued firing at innocent people. Brown fired four shots from his 9mm handgun, two of which struck Mellberg.
Brown fired 4 shots, got 2 hits, and dropped the gunman. Looks like the handgun and cartridge worked as well as could be expected.

I think most people imagine that as soon as they see a bg with a gun it's automatically gun in Hand boom boom bad guy down. When in all honesty it's more like bg with a gun oh ****. Pull out gun pop off a round or two in direction of bad guy until You can get to concealable cover to start to return better fire. Or it's pull your gun hoping it gives bg pause long enough so You can pump rounds into him. Shooting little green men and steel or other targets is great but once lead is slung back at you it's totally different. But the training does help you, muscle memory, sight alignment, all the good stuff should remain in place. So like others have said practice with it.Last edited by steelrain82; 07-16-2010, 5:52 PM.Comment
