Wow, some of you guys are jumping all over this guy. I think some of you mis-read his OP but whatever. You get what you pay for. I have learned that 9 out of 10 times this is a true statement. Good luck in getting your firearm fixed.

You are such a victim.
We have ALL been burned. Either through our negligence or others. Do you really expect Taurus to care? They don't. Some of you have the high notion that the customer service rep is the voice of the company and they SHOULD care. Well that may be so, but I have been lied to by idiot service and tech support people and been told outright BS. I am dealing with this right now with Tyan and Newegg.

*** UPDATE - FINAL CALL TO TAURUS ***
I called Taurus today at 1 pm pacific time.
I got a hold of a man this time. A guy name Richard.
I asked him if he could give me the name and address where I could write a letter to the president of Taurus USA over there in FL.
He ask me why and I said because I want to complain about service on a gun that I had sent to them twice and they had for 4 month and promised to fix but never fixed. He then asked for serial number and put me on hold.
A few minutes later he came back on and said he saw the gun's file and that they had had the gun for 4 months and sent it back twice. He said that he wanted to speak with his manager and see if he could work something out for me. He then told me the president's name is Mr. Morrison and asked for my phone number so he could call me back after talking to his manager.
Ten minutes later the same guy called back and asked me when the gun was purchased and I told him, and he said oh ok, THAT'S the problem. The gun was out of warranty for the finish when you sent it in the first time. But then I told him YEAH I KNOW THAT NOW but I was told by first NADINE and then 2 months later by TALIA that it WOULD BE FIXED, basically I told him the whole story from beginning to end, and how I never asked for it to be fixed under warranty but that it was offered to me.
He put me on hold for a few more minutes and then came back and said that the two women Nadine and Talia that handled my case were no longer employed by Taurus. He said that everything they told me was wrong and telling me to send it to them twice what their mistake and that he apologized for that. He also said that since I live in CA that also restricts just what they could do for me anyway. (not sure what that means)
So I asked if that was all Taurus could do for me now after all these months. And he said yes all we can do is apologize for the inconvenience that our two former employees caused you. And I said, alright then. I asked if I sent a letter to their address to Mr. Morrison if the president would get it, and he said yes. So I said, well thanks for your time and the clarification, and he said again sir we do apologize for the mix up but unfortunately that's all we can do for you. And I said "Ok thanks. Have a nice day", and he replied, "You too sir".Last edited by Namerakis; 04-05-2007, 1:33 PM.Comment

Yes, but what I am doing is called getting the word out there that this is what gun owners can expect from Taurus USA.You are such a victim.

Everyone take two steps back from the keyboard and count to 10.
It looks like there are several issues here and they are getting mixed up with each other. Regardless there is no reason to start jumping on each other.
Calm down and discuss this politely okay?

By the thread starters own admission, it was already a known fact 3 years ago when he bought it. There are a couple cliches that apply to this thread and especially post 48 "You get what you pay for" and "if it seems to good to be true, it probably is"
If this was a new company or when with a good reputation there would be a point to hashing out this story but doing a search on most boards will find many instances of "don't buy a Taurus."JPN

I wouldn't expect this from any company discount or not.
And you are obviously wrong because I have gotten many replies from people who were shocked and have now changed their minds about buying a Taurus in the future. Mission accomplished. But thanks for your input anyway.
A good example is the guy below:
As Taurus no-doubt knows, it's' difficult and expensive to win a new customer, but it's extremely easy to lose a customer. And once a customer is ticked-off, that former customer can cause all kinds of havoc. I read once that, on average, a ticked-off customer will convince 7 other people never to become customers of the offending company. Those 7 will then go on and influence other people, etc., etc., etc. It's an exponentially expanding bad-PR campaign for the company.
BillyT - I can assure you, what you have experienced with Taurus will prevent me from ever becoming one of their customers. And I'll share your experience with anybody I ever run into (family, friends, fellow shoppers at the gun counter that I see handling a Taurus) that may buy a Taurus.
You can take some comfort in knowing that sharing this experience has cost them money, and will cost them future customers.Comment

I never planned to buy a Taurus before reading this and still don't. Just one of the many manufacturers that will NEVER get my money. I try not to think I am lucky but I have had very few problems with my firearms. I had a Ruger P944D .40 Slow & Weak, the recoil spring collar retainer flew off one day and when I took it apart, the recoil spring, guide, and collar decided to part ways. I called Ruger customer service and had a new assembly in 4 days, free of charge.
When I had a Walther G22 bullpup, I made a preemptive order for the two minute springs that operate the slide stop and trigger disconnect, I also lost the plastic battery compartment cover for the laser. I got the cover 5 days later, and the springs just after I sold it(not their fault, item on b.o.). They stepped up to the plate and took care of my problem. I even told the lady that I HADN'T lost the springs yet, but I plan on losing them eventually, I even offered to pay. She just good-willed them to me.Comment

Maybe we could throw some bucks together & set up a "TAURUS SUCKS" T shirt stand at the Reno show next weekend? Half price sale & after one wash the color fades! Make some money, check out the show & have beer all at the same time - life is good.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

Thanks to everyone for the input.
And I'm glad my situation has enlightened some folks to what can be expected from Taurus USA.

Man, that really, really sucks! That thing looks like it was blued with an imitation magic marker. I doubt that anyone there ever even looked at it. How could
anyone who is supposed to be a gunsmith, or even a tech., think you wanted it to look like that? I sure hope my Taurus never needs service - I guess the lifetime
guarantee is that you are guaranteed a lifetime of sending you gun back and forth??? PLease post if you ever do get some resolution from them on this one.

I don't know much about blackpowder loads, and so I wouldn't think to use them in a Taurus. I think Taurus customer service has probably lost another customer
though, through their dealings with this fellow. One thing personally and recently, that bothered me, was a comment by Taurus that they pay special attention to
assemblying their model 85 and 608's, because they know that these two models are being used by customers for CCW. That implies that Taurus does not pay as much attention to their other models. That turned me off to Taurus, and I used to be one of their biggest fans. That was a crappy way to market their 85's and 608's. All my Taurus products are down the road. They've been replaced by S&W, and Ruger.

Thanks for the info Billy, on Taurus customer service...
I would ignore the jackasses in the thread, its obvious who they are..

I appreciate the heads up on Taurus's service
I know for certain that I won't be buying a Taurus gun after seeing what has happened, and after reading that others have had the same experience with Taurus.
Apparently, their customer service is not what it should be, and this isn't an isolated instance.
The kind of negative publicity that this generates for Taurus is very good for them, especially if they are able to act on it and make needed changes. If not, too
bad for them.

I'll keep it in mind for sure. What a waste of effort and time!

Posting this link all over the internet is exactly what you should do. I don't own any Taurus firearms, but I know I will think twice before buying one now.

Thanks for affirming my choice to go with Smith & Wesson for my wife's carry-piece, Namerakis.

When I took my firearms training a few years ago, Taurus was not on the list of the instructor's recommended brands. I plan to buy a wheel gun sometime next year, for what I've seen in this thread, it won't be a Taurus.
