Thread crapping

I sold an off roster pistol on here once. (and I'll never do it again)
I paid $350 (MSRP), +Shipping, + Tax, + DROS. Plus I had an extra magazine and a finger extension. All in I had about $460 in that gun. I offered it for sale for $500 and got all kinds of grief via PMs for raping people for a gun that sells for $299 in "Free" states.Frank

i bought a mesa tactical stock for my 870P from a forum member 2 days ago; seller posted that he did not want to part anything out and stock was mounted on gun for sale. i did not want to disturb the integrity of the thread so sent a PM to seller regarding the stock that was mounted on shotgun; seller responded in a PM and we struck a deal; i picked it up that night. there are numerous ways of thread crapping and not all of them making critical remarks to the seller or poster. changing the subject from poster's intent and intentionally turning the thread into your own, making low ball offers on an item seller has already given a firm price on are a few. trolling is a mean spirited way to crap on someone's thread; intentionally starting hostilities with others is not cool, and criticizing someone's for sale post is doing just that imo. there are buyers that are willing to pay more than you might be willing to pay for their own reasons; but this is America and in America, if you don't like the show... change the channel....

I think the important thing to keep in mind is they are not "going" for twice the price. There is a big difference between asking and getting. You are correct though, there are a number of "optimistic" individuals that do post in the FS forum. I enjoy watching the "BTT with price drop" posts. At the right price EVERYTHING will sell, some guys get it while others just don't. Keep looking, you will find what you are looking for at the right price. Just be ready to pull the trigger (no pun) because the "right price" for you is most likely the same for many others too."You can't handle the truth"Comment

I guess thats why the TC rules are in place...judging by the trouble you had via PM, you would have closed the thread if TC was allowed...I sold an off roster pistol on here once. (and I'll never do it again)

if you look at the guns for sale for a while you quickly learn which sellers to avoid regardless of all the glowing recommendations they might have. Their PM's and comments say alot more about them than a dozen "great seller" recommendations from people too scared to put a negative comment up. I see the some guns coming back up under different names for apparent resale, people who better be FFL's or they are selling way too many guns, and people who are taking advantage of the "roster" and jacking the price on off roster guns. It is apparently the california way and what can you say? In the end you will become a smarter and cager buyer. When I get a good deal for my collection if I sell a gun to keep the number of guns I have in check I try to pass a little of that deal to who buys from me. I don't have to but it makes me feel better that I passed it along. If I screw up then it on me and I eat it so to speak.Comment

I too sometimes wonder about pricing, and feel the need to comment. But I dont, I move on, and I get over it. What good would it do anyway.
I believe the no thread capping deal is a good plan.Comment

Why not? If the seller doesn't like your offer via PM, he/she can just hit DELETE; they don't even need to bother to reply to thank you for the offer but decline it (which is the polite thing to do if you felt that the potential buyer was acting politely).

Example:
Ruger LCP-$310
with taxes/ fees-$350
It comes to California:
PPT in California 35-40
Ruger LCP= around $400 in California
Kallito- How much profit is acceptable to you and what would You sell this gun for after going through all kinds of b.s.
Maybe you can figure a number of hours of time it would take to get this done and multiple by your hourly wage(translate salary into an hourly if needed)
Include gas and travel if necessary
By the time your done, that LCP could be $700-800-or more for some calgunners who's time is worth a lot of money in the real world.
I want one too, but...
If I did get one, I would sell it for whatever the market would allow- which sounds like the "right" way to do things in America-Comment
