Supply and demand. Due to the roster, there's less supply and higher demand. Welcome to Capitalism. Ain't it grand.

OTOH, it's telling that you've been a member for 2 years and you only have 40-something posts, 10% of which are in THIS thread. I wonder where the other ~30 are? Probably a safe bet they're all located in the WTS section.

          I reckoned that:
"Good Luck With Sale", was code for OVERPRICED
"Nice, but my wife would shriek", could also be code for OVERPRICED
You can always offer less in a PM - which you can't do on the auction sites where it is for sure OVERPRICED in most cases. Only a few gun shops will dicker these days, they get my business. But like stated earlier there is no need to be rude to the seller.
I've picked up a few things at less than asking prices. In a dickering format like this one the seller could post high and be assuming that, well a PT Barnum type customer just may bite. Be police make an offer and see where it goes. In a month or so you could get a call back on your offer if the thing hasn't moved and the seller is motivated. Like any other capitalistic system - what ever the traffic will support.
          Good luck with your quest.

yes, you have realized I don't do alot of posting. I don't see how that is relevent.

I guess what I should have said at first was this: Am I the only one who thinks an off-roster used pistol is not worth 2X the MSRP?

I am hesitant to send a lower offer via PM when I see FIRM in the price. If the price has OBO in it, different story.

Not mad at all. Just find it interesting the some people feel that gun owners should somehow not make a profit because of some "gun owner fraternity" as though there is an unwritten law against it. I don't run around the Nugget market telling everyone that there booze is overpriced and to buy it from Walmart. And for the record, I think it is assinine too, the prices some people ask. I just laugh and move along.

True , but most sane people wont pay that crazy *** "its not a roster pistol so im going to charge $200-$300 over MSRP" price

RobG - Profit and assraping are two different things.

But yes , I see a off-list pistol in the for sale forum , go to thread , read price , lul and move.

You only get azzraped if you allow yourself to. I also think people get too excited just because its "off roster." A pristine Python, hell yes, get 1400+ if you can. A XD/M for 800+, hell no.

and who are you to say what amount of profit IS acceptable?

exactly, look at the add, decide if the price is acceptable, and move on if it isn't.
