Where did you learn to shoot?

An informal survey due to curiosity

I grew up in Mendocino County and shot at the hillside in my backyard (which was safe but I've recently learned not legal ) and was in Scouts for most of my childhood, which meant lots of camps with rifle/shotgun ranges.

Because of that, I'm pretty lousy with a pistol but can throw a tomahawk pretty well

    So what about you?

Learned to shoot about a year ago from a friend. Haven't missed a week since.

I learned how to shoot in my back yard with my dad's .177 air gun. I think I was about 3 at the time. He held the gun for me and let me aim it and pull the trigger, and to the 3 year old me, it was Awesome!

US Army. Started out with rifles, picked up pistols along the way...pretty much transferred alot of the techniques shooting rifles over.

Dad had me trap shooting with a .410 and 20GA as a preteen for a few years then kind of got interested in other things, now almost 20 years later I just bought my first handgun and am learning how to shoot it.

I grew up in Upper Michigan. Shooting guns and bows and arrows are a way of life. I can't say for sure how old I was, but it seems like I've been shooting my entire life.

Learned from my father as a youth. Then I joined the Marine Corps and learned some more.

I grew up in rural South Carolina. I grew up shooting. Was shooting on the trap circuit as a sub jr in my pre and earlly teens, was on my HS rifle team for 4 years, etc etc etc.
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.

Airgun that I always wanted when I was pretty young, then moved up to a .22lr single shot for the wabbits! That was all I had and I got really good with it for a lot of years, learning to clean and take care of it. At 18, I got my first "rifle" a Marlin 795 which I still have. I picked up another Marlin 60, and then started buying handguns, other rifles, and my latest stuff has been AR building for the last 3 years. I got into AR's because of this site and haven't looked back. Probably 10-15k later building, buying and selling...wrinse and repeat 10x, I am down to 2 rifles with a desire to buy a third which will be more of a spacegun this time.
