Why do you shoot on BLM land?

I can shoot with my own family/buddies privately.
I can shoot at any distance/range that I wish to.
I can rapid fire & practice quick reloads.
I can setup a training scenario.
I can shoot any type of Targets (ofcourse cleaning up after myself)
I can shoot any type of weapons that's legal to own.
I can be armed to the teeth while running shooting drills.
I can do anything I want as long as its SAFE and Legal to do.
I Don't have to worry about the Idiots and Gangbangers/Thugs associated with public ranges.

Why do you shoot on BLM land as opposed to privately owned ranges?

Do you tend to just squeeze off rounds and shoot washing machines or focus on the fundamentals?
Do you bring different stuff to BLM land? Tables or a sidearm on the hip?

I'm just curious about why people enjoy shooting on the sparse remaining areas that are open to us to shoot at.

I'm not sure what to make of your question(s). At first blush I find that these are not questions, but more like statements on your part as to how you think gun owners behave. Are you another anti-gunner plant on this site that is trolling?

Great info on BLM shooting......

I too am new to this and have never gone before to BLM areas. My question is....

Are there rules that are not written but a given? Ex: How do you know which direction to shoot at? Do you just find a spot, park car, set up, then start shooting? What if someone decides to do the same (4-5 hundred yards away) or they are doing duck and cover manuevers in the dirt/bushes etc, and start shooting in your direction you are set up (not knowing of course that you are there).

I guess what im saying is that if there is a hill or mountain side that you decide to start shooting at....how do you know there is no one downwind/sight of where you are aiming....


Another thing...I too would have a firearm on me at "code 3" status just in case I need to get to it for whatever reason... but should I expect and not be blind to the fact that some psycho shooter can stumble upon me and/or the group im with?


Is there a check in process where you have to let someone know (ranger I assume) as to where or what area you will be shooting at?
