the FAL is a little too big for my taste. I want something as compact as possible, thats why im really lovin the SOCOM II. its like a modern Garand tacticooled out, i cant stop dreaming about this SOCOM i saw that had a white/grey winter camo rattle can job with the rail and accessories. Me wants!!

You know, if you have the budget and really want something in .308 that is nice and compact and Garand-based, an excellent weapon would be the Beretta BM-62 sans the crappy sporter muzzle device (which serves no function). I've heard there a couple of 'smiths that also build these off of parts kits and Garands.

dont have a .308 gun to shoot it in yet haha. i got the ammo today, it comes in a really rusty tin and the bullets themselves look pretty dirty. but it still looks like shootable brass cased FMJ ammo that will tear a big hole in whatever it hits.


i like the PTR, but it just doesnt have the appeal to me as the SOCOM. I have shot an AR10 before and didnt think it was too "big". If i go the AR10 route i want possibly the Noveske n6 or whatever model they had that shot 308.

but i still love the SOCOM, always wanted a Garand and teh socom looks like a super modernized eye candy rifle to me....

For a one size fits most .308 I'm a big fan of the M1A Scouts

Fairly compact, simple action, and doesn't weigh a ton like other .308s out there.

Standard magazines for M1As are 20 round. There are some higher capacity ones out there but milspec 20 rounders are the ones I'd trust my life to...

Yep, I noted that earlier too. Within the constraints of CA law, M1A is a fantastic choice!
