Don't tell the store worker how you can get the gun cheaper online or down the street for much less. Instead, politely thank the worker for his time and buy it elsewhere.

Don't ask the worker if that is the same gun used in Call of Duty.

Don't come into the store looking like a hoodlum. At least appear like you are serious about owning a firearm.

Don't butt in on a conversation to express your opinion or disagreement when a worker is trying educate a patron who is new to firearms. Open your own shop if you disagree with their advice.

Yes, while that is true in theory, when you sign a safe affidavit you signed under penalty of perjury, stating that the purchaser owns a gun safe.
So if the government decided to check and you dont have the safe you said you do, well you can fill in the rest.

You are they going to check?
They aren't getting into my home without a warrant, and they can't get a warrant based on "wanting to check to see if I really have a safe".

Even with an 03FFL, they have no right to come into my home.

                Good question.
No we do not check, it makes no difference to us.
but if the store gets audited and the federal government decides to look into it, then they will. The extent of it, is up to them.

I should have said "How" rather than "You" (mistyped).

Okay, so they audit the store... all they see is a safe affidavit, among hundreds or thousands (or dozens, depending on your volume).
Unless you tell them "I really don't think this guy has a safe", they would have no reason even for suspicion.... and your comment, or even their suspicion, would not be grounds for a warrant.

I suppose it's POSSIBLE if one store has DROS's on file for one person for 25 guns and his safe affidavit is for an 8-gun Stack-On... but even then, the law doesn't say that the new gun has to fit IN the safe... it simply requires that the person own the safe.... and maybe he owns 5 of those safes?

Bottom line... the DOJ would have no legal way to get into my home to verify that I do or do not have a safe unless I or my wife consent to a search or allow them through the front door.

You do not necessarily know more than the customer does.

The customer may ask stupid questions, if they didn't there would be no use for you.

                        Be polite.

Dealing with the general public sucks most of the time, but no one is forcing you to work in that field, so don't take out your frustration on us.

If your busy, make eye contact, say "I'm not ignoring you, I will be with you in a moment". This one will go a long way.

I used to work in retail and know how stupid and obnoxious some customers can be. Most people change their attitude 100% when shown a little respect and a smile. If someone mishandles merchandise, let them know in a respectful, polite manner. If you can't deal with the public in a polite and respectful manor, you should find another line of work.

                        And stop spreading FUD.

And what does it matter if I dress like a hood? I cannot own firearms because I wear Dodger or Raider or Laker jerseys and have tattoos?? Lame.

"Own or has access to" is really the key. You don't actually have to own one.

And the government is not going to check. That's absurd. And if they did: "I sold the safe, go eff yourself gubmint man".

The federal government doesn't care about state-level laws and gun safe affidavits. The DOJ just cares that it's there. That's all.
