Man up, don't be a wanker...............or go to the National Forest for free like I do.took the gf to the range today, took the rifle safety class, grabbed a bite to eat, and then came back for some range time. all was going well, gf was putting together pretty decent groupings with a 9mm carbine, and i was having a good time with the mosin 91/30 i just got.
that was, until someone began using the lane next to us, WITH .300 WINCHESTER MAGNUMS. did i mention this is a 25 yard indoor range?
I have no idea why the rent this at my range, not sure the exact model but it was a black bolt action with a fairly large scope, and a muzzle break reminiscent of a .50BMG. every round the guy let off sent a shockwave that actually visibly moved the dividers. everyone at the range had a look that was some variation of WTF. my ear protection still left me with a loud ringing after every shot he took.
what do you guys do when something like this happens? it really kinda spoiled the rest of our range time

stan,
Did you know that the noise and shock wave have less to do with the fact that it's a 300wm and more to do with the MB? If you put a MB on your 91/30 it would have a similar affect, specially at an indoor range.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

Guys, there's such a thing as common courtesy, although it doesn't sound so common any more.
I've shot 12 gauge indoors. We all know it's not the worst thing ever, but when I've got a woman with .22lr to my left, and a guy with his girl friend and a 9mm to my right, I will politely inform them that I am going to shoot some 12 gauge, and I will time it so that I shoot when they are not up at the firing line.
Do I have to do this? No. But it's just common courtesy. Wish we all had some.

one reason i rarely go to indoor ranges nowadays.
shooting is meant to be in the open, not in some confined place reminiscent of a jail.Comment

Seems silly to me to take such a rifle to an indoor range to shoot at 25m targets. In fact, I feel sad for the rifle. It should be treated better and taken outside to really stretch its legs.As Einstein has shown that it takes infinite energy to accelerate a mass to the speed of light, Obama AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE will demonstrate that it takes infinite money to attain utopiaComment

The guy didn't take such a rifle to the indoor range. The range operators rent the rifle there at the range, so they are obviously OK with it being shot there.Jack
