couldn't you just move Stan? Most are considerate about muzzle blast but sometimes it happens.

Im sorry your time at the range with your lady wasnt as pleasant as you hoped! I know that can be irritating sometimes. But maybe sometimes shooters just want to get out and squeeze off a few rounds. I know I do once in a while...

Which range was this? Aren't there any outdoor ones nearby?

I think I know which range you're talking about.

Yes, they have an Armalite AR-30 in .300WM for rent but I've never seen anyone actually USE it.

The rifle lanes are all the way to the right so there is no real way to further isolate those shooters.

I've shot my .223 AR there several times and I will probably take my M1A one day soon to test some stuff. I don't find it particulary fun to use a rifle in an indoor range but it is a LOT closer than any outdoor range (less then 1/2 hour away).

I stand back and enjoy the shock waves.

Then I create some humor by pulling out the Pedersoli parlour pistol and sending a few down range. The contrast is hilarious!

It your experienced sucked ***, what didn't help was the muzzle break.

Guns like that should really be re-served for out-door ranges and targets 50 to 200 yds out. But 25? That just lame. what kind of reasonable practice can you get from punching holes at that distance ?

I shot my .44 magnum at an indoor range and a woman watching her boyfriend shoot at the booth next to me got so startled she knocked her earmuffs about two feet in the air after I fired my first shot.

i dont mind a lil noise next to me.... in fact, i had a guy muzzle braked next to me a couple weeks back and it was LOUD. however, after a few rounds i learned to let his noise affet my comcentration.

My brother and I once rented an M-240B at the Scottsdale Gun Club.

The Scottsdale range is around 30 meters, indoor. The M-240B is a 7.62 NATO machine gun.

People were kinda laughing when we followed the range worker with this belt-fed gun, knowing what lay in store. And it was LOUD. Not just pop - pop loud, but buzz saw loud. Great fun.

I would never do that a typical indoor range; Scottsdale is an exception.

A .300 magnum at 25 yards? I hope he had fun.

What are you doing shooting a 91/30 at only 25yds anyways?

my groupings are about 5" for 5 shots, i need the practice. the thing is, they have a bay for rifles. totally reasonable, and the 91/30 is a dull thud. a muzzle braked 300 mag sends the blast right into the lanes next to it. thats the thing. when i was popping off shots with the mosin, people chuckled at the old soviet gun. when this guy squeezed one off everyone looked at each other like what the hell.

i can say without a doubt the mosin doesnt bother anyone on the rifle side. i stood in a few different bays and areas behind to make sure.

i'm not really *****ing so much as just thinking why the hell would someone do that. it was a rental, so the arguments about testing or whatever don't really apply.

on a completely unrelated note, watching my 100lb gf shoot the 91/30 was a sight to see. shes only about 18 inches taller than the gun. oleg would have a field day

As you said, it was a rental.

Maybe the guy was interested in buyin an AR-30 and the chance to rent one gave him a chance to try it out.

Or, maybe he likes to rent it every time he comes to the range to make lots of noise.

Did you take the time to talk to him and figure out the reason for the rental?

Yes, noise is fun, but there are times where a gun is simply too loud for an indoor range for even plugs and muffs. At this point hearing damage can occur and it shouldn't be allowed. Take'em outdoors.

Was he alone or did he have a girl with him. Sounds to me like he may have a small unit and a large ego. It is absolutely ludicrous to shoot .300 Mag indoors at 25 yards, go outside, geeez.

You can make the same argument about guys that shoot *anything* bigger than what you're shooting.

Of course, the dude down the lane shooting his .17 hornet can also complain about you shooting your 9mm, as it's too loud.

Just deal with it. It's a shooting range, not a tea party.
Come on guys Some are saying try and get them to not let him shoot that gun HMMM you like guns he likes guns he wants to use a bigger gun so you want to say NO? we are on the same side guys why try and stop your brother from shooting?
