AMMO Stolen from UPS dropoff

I have had missing UPS shipments where they claim to have dropped the package off. I have full motion activated cameras in front, saw the UPS truck pull up next door and go there but never to my front door. Funny, they claimed to have delivered the package to me!

UPS does things like this on a regular basis. I'm sure the ammunition is still in the UPS system.

I had UPS check and they claim the GPS tracking on their truck shows the truck stopped at my house.

But the resaon I posted in the sections was if anyone knows if I file a police report for theft. they(police) is not going to give me a hard time on some possible legal issue. I know talking to the the shipper they did not click adult signature required.

Yes. Also report it as stolen to UPS (I'm pretty sure that ammo requires a signature).

There have been cases where UPS has claimed that they dropped off items when they really hadn't.

Another UPS ghost delivery for the win.

I will never use UPS again.

Yes, file a police report and UPS claim. It seems pretty common that when you mention a police report in the UPS claim, the package typically shows up. I guess in the future you might have to request signature required or hold for pickup (at your local UPS hub/store).

I believe that if UPS drops off a package on your porch with no signature they take the risk of it being lost or stolen. This happened to a friend of mine and I think when he called to ask UPS that is what they said and they covered the loss. Might wanna check into that. Hope it works out for you.

UPS insures all packages up to the first $100 or $200. Anything above that you are responsible for if you did not purchase additional insurance. Have you tried calling the vendor to see if they will do something for you as far as covering the loss partially or completely? If both UPS and the vendor cover your loss, then there is no reason to file a police report. If you are out cash, then I would file a report with your local police and UPS of course.

I had 2500 rounds of 7.62x25 delivered last week, 50 pounds. No signature required. Not sure what your's weighed but I can't see someone dragging that much weight around after they stole it. do as the other guys mentioned, police report, then go down to ups with the report and make a claim.
when you make a report, print out your receipt or order form for the ammo and the ups tracking information. DO NOT MAKE A REPORT OVER THE PHONE. Go down with you paper work, tell them you want to file a report. You need proof for ups to know that the report was made, this may entice them to do an internal investigation instead of the standard, "it was delivered".
If everyone that lost something thru UPS would file a report, a couple of things would happen. The local PD can zero in on who is doing it. UPS doesn't like bad press, so they will also check into it, A running account of everything stolen will be filed with the local PD.

I called the police to report it, but they didn't really care. . . said it would be near impossible to tie it to someone, so not worth their time. . . basically. No report.

UPS would not do anything about it even though I have on record clear instructions that NOTHING is to be left at door. Signature only for ANY delivery.

Midway wanted me to call them directly, but it was about the same time as my case started so I was too busy to follow through. . . Hollow points too. . . I wish stores around here would sell hollow points.

I will file a police report tonight in person at the PD. I am fighting internally to do a charge back or not with the Credit card company because I physically never received it.

I'd wait until you take the police report to UPS and file a claim there; to reiterate, you do need to file your UPS claim at a UPS store and not over the phone. If that goes nowhere in a couple days, then definitely dispute the charge. Sounds like another UPS driver being lazy or stealing stuff...I've been reading a lot about this on a couple different forums lately.

Call the company you ordered from, and they will file a claim with UPS. It wouldn't hurt to call UPS as well. Same thing happened to me with Optics Planet on an Eotech 557. UPS sent a driver to my house to search for the package. UPS will also ask if you checked with the neighbors and checked around bushes and stuff. Now I always request "signature required". About 2 weeks later the Eotech was at my door with no additional cost.

I called UPS for my stolen package, no problems. I wouldn't go out of my way for their mistake. I can't believe they leave hundreds of dollars worth of stuff at the door in plain sight. I'm sure they are used to stolen packages.

I think that there's some requirement for a sig. If UPS didn't get the sig they are violating their policies.

I usually deal with Ammumition To Go. I always have the items delivered to my office; I'm luckly that the owner is cool with this. I think you can specify that a signature be required or that you will pick up at the UPS office.

A 50 lb package from Midway, Cabellas, Wideners, etc = a call from the UPS driver to a friend to meet him for lunch.
