AMMO Stolen from UPS dropoff

I ordered online 1,000 rounds of ammo. the UPS tracking advised me the package was dropped off and left at front door. Came home and no package. I called UPS and they verified the driver dropped it off.

I live in orange county, I wonder since this is a "theft" should I report to local police because the valuve is about $350 and it is Ammo of 1,000 rounds. Just wondering any I should know before I call the police?

Yes. Also report it as stolen to UPS (I'm pretty sure that ammo requires a signature).

There have been cases where UPS has claimed that they dropped off items when they really hadn't.

that is what I thought too on the signature? So I do not why they left it.

To make it more interesting, our neighbor across the street advised me she was out front and she got a UPS package that same day and time too and she did not remember seeing the driver drop off any package at my house when they dropped stuff of at her house.

I'm suprised whoever you ordered it from didn't send it "signature required at delivery".

I knw sportsmansguide does that when I've ordered from them and that's just fine by me.

Bummer about the theft. Might wanna see if you can recover the loss from your credit card somehow.

Signature may or may not be required, depending on who I order it from.

Example - ATG, no sig ever required. SG, always require signature. Both delivered by UPS.

Did you by chance order it from Cabelas? They've been "cleaning up" their address database, and they merged my name with my neighbor's address. (We both order from them.) So my last 2 ammo orders went to my neighbor. Fortunately I'm friends with my neighbor and I got my ammo. When I called Cabelas to fix the address problem, they guy on the phone said this was happening a lot lately.

I order lots of ammo from online sources.

UPS has NEVER asked for a signature and will leave at door if no one answers.

It also depends what neighborhood you live in. In my area, i've never been asked for a signature by any Currier

I think that there's some requirement for a sig. If UPS didn't get the sig they are violating their policies.

I called the dealer and they said no signature required, just as long at time of shipping it is delcared as small arms ammo.

Yep, happened to me. Then 3 weeks later a neighbor at the opposite end of the street brings me a package he found on his door step. The entire time, UPS emphatically maintains their guy dropped it on my porch

Bet it shows today.

I currently have a box of defective ammo being sent back to Winchester in East Alton, IL from San Jose.

They picked it up from my front door and have been trying to redeliver it back to me for the last 3 days. I emailed UPS to let them know that the East Alton, IL is nowhere near San Jose, CA and that they need to fix the problem. Their response yesterday? The package is in transit to IL and on its way. Yeah, that explains why it says my package is out for delivery in San Jose.
