So, despite having moved to Texas, you've still got MonsterMan grips on your AR ...?

I could control my AK one-handed, with a loaded 30 round mag attached by holding nothing but the MMG.

      I don't have an AR.

I thought about leaving the MMG on my AK when I felt how crappy the standard Warsaw-sized pistol grip was, though. It's so skinny that the MMG actually gave me better control of my rifle - the little bugger isn't much better than just screwing the PG bolt into the nut in the receiver and using that. Then I got a Tapco SAW grip and a forward grip (can't remember who made it...) and everything was copacetic. The SAW-style grip is nice and fat, so I can actually grip it.

If I had to choose (again) between having features of with a slight ergonomic value or having the ability to rapidly change magazines, I'd make the same choice all over again and go featureless. Shooting tactical carbine matches at Chabot, I had no problem running all over people shooting registered rifles with all the ooh-ahhs on them. Before that, I was keeping pace with the locked-mag shooters with my Mosin Nagant, though when the BB came out they finally started out-running me... sometimes.

So you can either have a rifle that's as good as anything else available in modern times, or have one that performs like something from the 19th century. Your choice.
